Michelle’s Answer

Hello, Isaiah !

It may help to understand what a Fellowship is before exploring them. A Fellowship is either money or permission to be in the career environment so that you can pursue your studies or do research. If it is a paid Fellowship, it can be for any duration from two weeks to two years. A Fellowship is for professional, academic and or personal development and given to students that show great potential for the future. You would have to go to an association, organization, institution connected to your college Major or a government to explore Fellowships.

Fellowships are usually awarded to students that have had achievement in their past and have definite ideas about how they will contribute to their career in the future. There are different guidelines for different fields of work and the place offering the Fellowship. It is considered that applying for a Fellowship has intense competition.

You can explore The Delaware Innovation Fellows and The Delaware Scholarship Compendium. Also make some inquires at your current school as there may be Fellowships that are not listed online. Fellowships are usually granted to students that have finished their Bachelors Degree and are going on to graduate school.

I hope this information can help you with the start of your journey for a Fellowship and I wish you all the best !

Hi Isaiah,

You can search and apply for fellowship programs online. Websites like Idealist, ProFellow, and Fellowship Finder list many opportunities in different areas and places. When you apply, make sure to customize your application for each fellowship. Highlight what makes you special and your experiences. Write a strong personal statement that shows your commitment and enthusiasm for the field.
