To become a dental hygienist you'll need to complete a two to three year accredited dental hygiene program, and when picking a school make sure it's accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) because that's required to sit for your licensing exams. In high school load up on biology, chemistry, anatomy, and any health career classes, and in college you'll take things like anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, and lots of hands-on clinical courses. I'd also recommend volunteering or shadowing at a dental office as soon as you can because it gives you real exposure and looks great on applications. The good news is dental hygiene has awesome job stability, solid pay around $75,000 to $80,000 a year, and flexible schedules, so it's a really smart career choice. You've got this!
