Heavenly, you're asking a fantastic question! My top tip is to create a plan to balance your new school's different demands, like social life, classes, career goals, and volunteering. Setting up a weekly schedule can help you prioritize important assignments and find time for things you love outside of class. University offers many opportunities, so focus on what excites you and go after those. Remember, you don't have to tackle everything at once—just have a plan!

I found that one of the most stressful parts about navigating college was adjusting to a setting that was not as structured as high school. In college, no one is really checking on you all the time, so you have to learn how to manage your own schedule, stay on top of assignments, and balance everything on your own. That freedom can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming at first.
What helped me overcome that stress was creating structure for myself. Keeping a planner, setting routines, and staying ahead on deadlines made a big difference. I also learned that it’s okay to ask for help. Over time, you start to adjust and figure out what works best for you.
I also think working part-time during college can be really valuable. Not only does it help you build work ethic and communication skills, but it also teaches you how to save money and spend wisely, which is such an important skill. College is a time to grow academically, professionally, and personally, so give yourself grace, stay consistent, and trust that you’ll find your rhythm.

Nancy’s Answer

For me, the biggest stress in college was worrying about getting good grades. I overcame this by realizing I didn't need an A in every class for it to be valuable. As long as I was learning, it was worthwhile. To still aim for an A, I found it helpful to visit the professor's office hours. This allowed me to get to know them and helped them know me. If talking with the professor helped me understand the material better, I would attend more often. These discussions could save a lot of study time by highlighting what the professor considered important.

The most important skill to help you handle stress in college is good time management. College offers a lot of freedom, and classes don't fill the whole day like in high school. This change can be challenging because it lacks the structure you're used to, but with good planning, you can succeed.
