Universities mainly look for good grades and consistent effort.
They also value discipline, positive attitude, and genuine interest in learning.

Hi Jose!
While universities are going to look for good grades, that is often just a starting place. Also, it is not a deal breaker if you don't have amazing grades. There are options like going to local community colleges and then transferring to universities after a few semesters of good grades in college.
Depending on what university you are looking to attend, especially very competitive or elite universities, they will be looking for what makes you unique or stand out compared to other applicants. This could be your hobbies, volunteering activities, personal experiences, etc. If you are looking at a particular program (for example, medicine, law, etc.), do you have experiences that relate to those majors? Showing interest in what you want to learn and backing it up with experiences helps. These don't have to be paid jobs - volunteering can show that interest.
Good luck as you explore university!!
