A great site to start looking into scholarship opportunities is scholarship.com. When building your profile be sure to include your areas of interests as well as a professional email address. Normally your first and last name works fine. This will help you keep your emails for scholarships organized. You will find all kinds of scholarships opportunities not all focused on grades. Some of them will require essays others not. Apply for as many as you can: I have a friend whose daughter applied for all she was eligible for, 100 dollars to high dollars and never actually add to pay for a book. Perseverance is worth it.

Hi Stephanie,

Just about all students (regardless of economic situation) will receive federal aid under FAFSA (studentaid.gov). This will amount to around $5,000 - $5,500 per year per student. However, this is not a Scholarship, it is a student load (guaranteed by the US Gov). However, the load payment terms do not start until 6-months after graduation.

A great place to start with Scholarships is with the schools that you are interested in attending. You can contact the admissions office and find out from them what type of scholarships and additional financial aid is available. Often, schools will offer more generous programs for out-of-state students, to off set costs. So, don't be afraid to look outside your home state.
