Alex’s Answer

Hello,

If you are interested in learning more about building computers as a profession, I would recommend computer engineering and/or computer science as your college major. Another major you should look into is software engineering and/or computer programming. These degrees are a great choice if you have a real drive to build the next generation of computer hardware technology and want to be at the forefront of innovation for companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Tesla, and others in this space. Good luck with your decision, you cannot go wrong with either one of these engineering college degrees!

Best regards,

Alex

Alex recommends the following next steps:

Google Computer Engineering or Computer Hardware Engineering and read a summary on the topic from wikipedia. This will help to you understand if you like the hardware side of computers, or the internal software that runs on these machines.
Review the engineering college admission standards for 3 colleges you are considering
Visit these campuses and ask lots of questions about their engineering degree plans
Submit your college application and test scores and select the appropriate engineering major on your application
Read up on the latest technology from companies like Apple, Dell, Tesla, Amazon Web Services
