Thomas’s Answer

Jordan,

There's usually several options for you to go through Firefighter training. Most states have a state sponsored academy that you can apply to similar to a community college. Then of course there's all the community colleges that have Fire Service Technology Associates programs. Those degree pipelines require getting through the Firefighter certification process. Lastly, some bigger departments hold their own academies. For those you have to apply to the department, pass their civil service test and hiring process.
