Chemical engineers are used in many industries besides industrial chemical manufacturing. Chem Es are also used in manufacturing, environmental, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and mining, to mention a few other areas. Chemical manufactures set up in both big cities and outlying small towns. Connections to transportation usuallly drive their locations. Chemical engineers are some of the best paid engineers starting at $65-75,000/year in the chemical manufacturing world.
