How much has the pediatrician career changed over the past few years? What kind of changes do you think will occur in the next five years?

I want to see if there are going to be any changes in the near future that could effect me as a new pediatrician and if i could be really eligible for a job opening or not. Can qualifications vary over the years? I don't want to enter in any field that is not growing or will not give me a job #pediatrician #pediatric-nursing #healthcare #hospital-and-health-care

Pediatricians will always be needed, and there is a nationwide shortage of pediatricians. Pediatricians I know are extremely busy and are unable to take new patients due to a full practice. Most pediatricians have PA's & NP's to assist them with the heavy workload.
The AAP could change qualifications for board certification over the years, but that is true for any specialty.

I'm a proud Mom of a recent medical school graduate; now a Resident Pediatrician.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) the job outlook for physicians in general is very good for the coming years (www.bls.gov). The BLS projected a 10% growth in employment for all pediatric physicians and surgeons from 2014-2024, which is faster than the average for all occupations.
