I started as a bus person making gratuities and love it, then graduated to a Bellman and then made more! It depends upon what you want to do.
Do not put your mind on money, like I did. It cost me in the long run, because I did not learn as much doing a repetitive job, as opposed to making less as a manager and growing every day.
As you move up the ranks in Hotel or F&B Management, you will acquire the experience to make much more, and even open your own business as I have.

That is a great question and I would like to offer you some perspective:
Hospitality offers multiple options and directions but it really depends what are your goals for your life and career.
There are highly paid jobs in big hotel brands but also in very small boutique hotels. So what will really impact the salary and the possibility of career growth is the location and size of the company. If you go to a big brand company, it will take longer to grow on your career but you might be able to achieve a higher salary in the long run than in a small business hotel.
In a small business hotel, you will be able to probably grow (career wise) faster but you will reach your career ceiling there earlier and that might prevent you from having a higher salary.
I would suggest looking ahead on what is the type of life you would like to have, because if you live in a big city, that might give you the opportunity to have a higher salary but maybe not as good quality of life, since it will be more expensive.
As you have hotels, travel agencies, tourism government bureaus as multiple options for hospitality, you also have a lot of opportunity in technology as multiple companies are moving forward in changing the hospitality sector like Airbnb and others.
These tech companies might also offer you the opportunity to be involved in an unexpected career path but that will also bring you fulfillment as you will still be involved with hospitality, tourism and travel.
