Hello Yeshwanthi -

I noticed your hashtags for the various branches of the military. I'm a military mom who's son joined the Army Reserves at the age of 17 yrs old. He started in his junior year in high school as a reservist attending weekend training events, then off to basic combat training. After completing basic combat training the summer of his junior year in high school, he then returned to his senior year of high school studies and reservist duties. Upon graduating from high school, he went on to advanced military training. It was upon graduation from HS that he decided to switch from being an Army reservist to full time active duty in the Army. It was a personal decision for him and one that I am so proud of him for making the ultimate sacrifice to serve our country. The military really opened him up from being extremely shy, gave him valuable life skills and spurred his interest in becoming a diesel mechanic. He served six years in the army and is now attending college on the GI bill to become a diesel mechanic. What's cool about that field as it's wide open. You can work on trucks, tanks, planes, generators etc - anything involving diesel fuel. Once he completes his time in college he is considering becoming a consultant for the army with his military clearance working as a diesel mechanic. He is excited to be able to continue to work at different military bases around the country and feels this is a great way to give back to the military. Best of luck to you in your future! - Kathy
