Do I really need to write thank-you letters to employers?

I don't believe writing thank you letters to employers is necessary. If your fellow co-workers aren't doing it, I wouldn't worry about it. It'd mean more if you were writing a letter of thanks to someone more sincerely.

YES, it is important. It shows you are interested in the job, that you value the time they took to interview you and that you have been taught proper manners. My son does hand written notes and delivers them to the department admin. Emails are just as welcome but a hand written note makes you stand out from the crowd.

Writing a thank you note is a great way to remind an employer of your name. It is a small effort that can go a long way. The note does not have to be long or wordy, but if you include one meaningful thank you, your name may be at the top of mind when they review candidates.
