How do I get involved in Theatre?

<p>What is the best way to become involved in big productions, whether on stage, on in films?</p>

Thank you comment icon Most acting opportunities depend on what city you're currently in. If you live kind of near the LA/NYC/CHI area then you're in the heart of the acting scene. I'd try Backstage.com to look up film/theater auditions around you, even if it's just an extra in a commercial. Also, connections are everything. Participate in your local theater community, socialize with other people reaching for the same goal, and eventually you'll find someone higher up in the ranks. Not an A-list celebrity, but maybe someone who has ties to bigger projects than what you're doing now. If you don't live in those three major cities, still be a part of your city/town community theater program. Experience will help if you choose to move out in the future. Hope this helps! Michael

Hi Dublin, A great place to start is in your local community. There are many theatre's around that are volunteer driven. They usually have monthly meetings and/or auditions for upcoming productions. You can contact them or stop in for a group meeting. For films, you will have to work on a portfolio. If you have the funding, you could seek out a manager to assist you as well.
