If I already have my major in mind, then how do I decide what minor I would want?

I would like to know how to pick a minor before attending college. I want to know how someone just picks a minor to focus on as well as their major while at college. Does the minor have to be similar to the major in any way? Or can it be different?

Let me answer your question with another one; why do you need a minor? If you answer this question you would know what minor to take, I believe.

Most of the people I know picked a major, and didn't worry about picking minors. If you take a lot of classes related to a specific subject you may want to look into getting a minor since most only require about 5 or 6 courses. Other times people add minors during Jr. or Sr. year after they have worked on their major and decide what they want to focus on. For example, I'm a history major, but I really enjoyed my history classes about religion and kept taking them, so I decided to minor in theology since that was the focus of my history studies. I'd say don't worry about what you minor in, focus on figuring out your major.
