Hello Christiano,

From a business prospective, the overriding goal once functionality is reached and approved, should be delivering within scope, schedule and budget. And, one of the most frequent questions you might ask yourself and others is, "How does what I'm(you're) doing contribute to maintaining scope, schedule and budget. Keeping these most important elements in mind allows you to make decisions that take into account the interdependent nature of a project,as each action has consequences in other areas. For instance, a change order may appear to be of minor consequence to your project scope, yet may also impact schedule and budget, or other follow on work, and project integration. I once worked with a very skilled project manager on what would turn into a billion dollar plus project....her first round at every meeting was to get everyone to state where they were in terms of these project elements so all would know where things stood on a macro level, and that reconciliation could be attained in the field rather than in a courtroom after the fact. Good luck in your career! It would seem that we're on the verge of a period of major increases of infrastructure projects and those who can deliver within scope, on schedule and within budget can expect to be in demand.

Hi Cristiano!

Here is a good site with an article written by a civil engineer. Also, note the opportunity to view additional related helpful articles along the left side of the screen.
