I'm a Ghanaian youth waiting to be accepted into the university. I don't know whether to choose nursing or Medical laboratory science... I need help in choosing in regards to career opportunities, salary and employment rates.

I like to help people. I'm not afraid to touch blood. I don't react to gruesome scenes and blood. I like to care for people and aid the weak. I also don't react badly to hospitals, syringes, medicines and antiseptics.

I think you should follow your gut. Being happy is more than just making money. You may be able to start on one track and if you don't care for it transfer to the other. It sounds like the preliminary education may be parallel.
Nursing is going to offer you many opportunity to explore different age and patient populations. You will also have time to expand your education with a Masters or PhD program. There really are no limitations to nursing.

Hi Sonia! I would suggest nursing as a practical career choice. The truth is there will always be a need for nurses. There is also a lot of variety within nursing as career! If you do not like working in one clinical setting, you can also choose another speciality! There is also room for growth; you can choose to go back and pursue a higher degree in nursing.
