Jagoda’s Answer

LaTonya and Denis are both absolutely right.

At larger organizations there is usually a department of marketing and communication that are in charge of the content the company presents internally (to their employees) and externally (social media, events, publications)

A lot of the work revolves around written forms - posts, presentations, newsletter. However with the raise of social media more and more content is created in form of short movies. The types and occasions will vary, let me name a few examples:
- a virtual office tour aimed at attracting candidates,
- a promotional video of a new product,
- a winter holiday video from company managers saying thank you to employees.
- a recording of interview with CEO...

The possibilities are countless and depend also on the creativity of the department

LaTonya’s Answer

Taleah,
The great opportunity that your generation has is that streaming video is very popular. So, "filming" can be done across all industries of business. Think about what personal goals you would like to accomplish, then how would filming play a part? All businesses need to a video presence online. Just like schools have the opportunity to do "virtual tours", so do businesses. What local businesses need help in your community to increase their online presence that you could provide your services? I am not sure of your age to start your own business. You are already an entrepreneur. You will need to have a business license for your county or state where you live. Set up your EIN for federal business reporting. Create your online services of what you can do to help businesses. In other words, you would demonstrate a "virtual tour" or "virtual whatever" on your own site.

I hope I understood your question correctly. I hope this get you started.

Kind regards,
LaTonya

LaTonya recommends the following next steps:

Review information with your parents to secure a business license (San Francisco) https://sftreasurer.org/business/taxes-fees/licenses-and-permits
Review information to obtain your EIN https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/how-to-apply-for-an-ein

Dennis’s Answer

LaTonya is spot on. Almost any vertical has some form of marketing which includes video presentations or "filming". It has become so mainstream that even if you're in an area that traditionally doesn't use video-making, you may be called upon to do a promotional video or some form of advertising/marketing. I work in telecommunications and one of the first projects my new director had me work on was a retirement video for one of our executive directors! I just happened to have the skills, background, and tools to do it - but it just goes to show that any position can have a media element to it. You'll always find a need no matter what area you happen to land in!
