Should a Major and Minor be related?

As an example, if I wanted to major in law, could I have a minor in acting? Or should a minor be related to my major? #college-major #college-minor

Hi,
good question that does not have a specific answer :) this is really totally up to you, you could major and minor in a similar area to expand your education and career opportunities for the future. Or, you can minor in something totally different to also expand your future opportunities or just because you have other interests.
A minor usually only requires 3-4 classes so these can be your electives or you can take additional courses for your minor as well.

good luck! :)

Hi,

You have a few choices:

  1. For example a major in education and minor in math could serve you well if you are looking into teaching or Majoring in Social Work and minor in gerontology. In your career these choices can compliment one another and give you options to focus in on later.

  2. You can choose a major you plan to seek a career in and minor in a subject that is a hobby or an interest. This way you et knowledge and practice and learn about something you love.

Good luck!
