What steps should I take to become a fashion designer and started my own business? What is a typical day for a fashion designer Also, where can I go to college to become a fashion designer?

Being a fashion designer and starting your own business require 2 different skill sets. It sounds like fashion is your first love, so I would start by learning the craft of fashion design and looking for a school that specializes in fashion design. Do you want to stay in California? Or look at out of state schools? Do you want a big school or a smaller school? You will also want to be looking at schools that have a strong internship program-there is nothing better than on the job training! Once you have a strong foundation in fashion design then you will be better equipped to consider starting your own business. Well it sounds like you're very sure of yourself when it comes to your passion, which is amazing! I urge you to keep that passion alive, and keep pursuing this! So many schools have great fashion programs. One of my good friends who always wanted to be a fashion designer goes to Drexel University (in Philadelphia). There are quite a lot of good fashion schools in the Northeast, especially Parsons school of design and FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in NYC. Since you're from California, a great school to aspire to go to would be FIDM in Los Angeles.
Before thinking about school, however, why wait to start? Start now! Social media is a great opportunity for anybody to start a business. Have your friends assign certain clothing items for you to make for them and show them off on an Instagram/ Facebook/ Tik Tok (or any other form of social media) for people to see! This is also a great way to start your portfolio (which companies and schools will need to see in the future). My friend who goes to Drexel for fashion designed her prom dress, and she most definitely stole the show. Channel your ambition in your everyday life, and stay inspiring!
