Should I focus on DSP or acoustic engineering? Also, any steps to take towards these careers?

I like both math and audio, which initially led to me discovering DSP. However, I discovered acoustic engineering, which I find to be equally interesting. I have experience in theatre sound and music production. I’m also infrequently learning to code.

I want to be an acoustical engineer - what can I do to start now?

I'm a freshmen in high school and I'm interested in becoming an acoustical engineer. I play an instrument and I enjoy physics and math. I know that acoustical engineers need to have at least a masters degree and experience in the field. What can I do now to get started? How and where do I get an internship? Do I need to know any software, and if so, how can I learn it? #career-choice #career #engineering #physics #engineer #job-search #internships #music #acoustics

How did you get into your field What classes did you take in high school leading up to your major in college? Was heading into your field difficult??

I'm 15 and heading into my sophomore year, I'm lost at where I should start to prepare for college. I'm curious as to which classes will assist me on my road to college. I'm Interested in going into a science field along the lines of Seismology or Astronomy, I'm also interested about getting into Acoustical Engineering. Currently I am a passionate band+jazz student who enjoys playing my instrument, I also have a developing interest for science, math and physics. Overall, I am taking classes I enjoy it's just that I want to get on a set path for my future career/college major.

What does a technical interview entail?

I've made it past the first round of interviews for a research lab I'm interested in, and the next step is for a PI to reach out to schedule a technical interview. I have no idea what a technical interview is, or how to prepare! I'm a physics student and would be working in acoustics or signal processing if that's helpful. #physics #interviewing #research #research-lab #internship #technical-interview #applications #interviews #acoustics #signal-processing #data-science
