As a junior in the 11th grade, what can I do to increase my chances of a great school?

I know I'm supposed to do good in my essays, but how, what exactly screams "We got to take this applicant in"? Also, what am I supposed to do during the summer? I'm already doing a college mentoring program during the summer but I have no idea if that helps my resume.

When should I write my SAT?

Hi, I'm confused about how the SAT works, because I'm from India. When should I take my SATs? Should I take it immediately after my 12th Final Exam? Or before it? Will it be hard for me to prepare for these two really competitive exams at the same time? Or will I have a break after my 12th exam to study for the SATs? #SATs #Indian #INDIA #highschool #admissions

will going to an OK (not great) college hurt my chances of being accepted into medical school?

OK so a little background about me: Ever since I was little I wanted to become a doctor. I love anything that has to do with health and medicine. Growing up I was always smart, but never a genius. I was never a straight A student. I always gotten a mix of As and Bs, but nothing below a B. I go to one of the best high schools in the country. Its just a fact. Its difficult here. Everyone is a genius and a Straight A student. This past year we had multiple kids get accepted into Ivy League Colleges. Its been hard going to this school, I wanted to be the best so I studied a ton. I worked hard, but I'm tired. I was wondering if going to an ok school, not the best, with little competition will hurt my chances of getting into medical school. Maybe if I graduate top of my class at a small school, would that be better than going to a large school with tons of competition? Any advice? #college #doctor #medical-school #admissions

School Struggles: Big Goals?

Hello, I'm a 14-year-old high school student facing some challenges with attendance and grades. I've had a history of truancy and a few suspensions, and I'm currently struggling in some classes. Despite this, I'm determined to aim for admission to either Choate Rosemary Hall or Phillips Exeter Academy. I'm aware my current situation may seem like a stretch, but I'm committed to improving during my freshman and sophomore years with the goal of applying during my junior year. I'd appreciate any advice or insights from those familiar with these schools or experienced in admissions.

What is one topic I should definitely avoid on my college essays?

I've heard a lot about the college application process and how important essays can be. While I know it's important to be well-rounded and showcase intelligence, I just want to make sure I'm not immediately getting on the Admission Officer's bad side. A teacher mentioned, for instance, to avoid talking about death or family issues. #college #college-admissions #admissions

Can I take both a pre-med and pre-vet track?

I was leaning towards pre-med in the beginning, but now I'm interested in being a veterinarian. I saw someone on social media doing both, but I didn't know that was possible. Edit: I know I want to be a neuroscience major.

What do collages look for on your application?

Currently, I am interested in understanding the key factors that colleges prioritize when evaluating applications. Specifically, I would like to gain insights into which academic courses, extracurricular activities, and club involvements are considered significant. I believe it is important to proactively plan for my future success, hence my inquiry. While I am already engaged in a number of clubs and enrolled in a high-level math class, I am eager to explore additional opportunities that will maximize my chances of admission to the college of my choice.

With a busy after school schedule what are some things that stand out in college applications that are not school affiliated?

It's a well known fact that colleges look for many extracurricular activities while viewing an individual's application. At my school I am involved with the drama club and due to the intense schedule of productions, whenever I have free time in the year it is at an awkward time (only December, May, and June) and I cannot easily join clubs I had no affiliation with before. Seeing as I want to stand out on applications but cannot necessarily participate in clubs I want to, what sort of other activities also stick out to colleges? #college #extracurriculars #admissions #application #clubs

Does anyone know of any nursing programs that aren’t impossible to get into? Anyone have any advice?

I got into nursing programs in high school. Couldn’t afford any of them, so I just went to community college. I decided to work towards an associates degree in film studies, but became an alcoholic and failed out. My grades are completely terrible. I’m now sober, and trying to turn my life around The problem, is that the community college doesn’t offer ANY film classes, or degrees in film anymore due to declining enrollment. I have absolutely no way of retaking those classes. I’m currently an EMT student, and I’m doing very well. I’m incredibly happy to be sober and on the right track, I just hope my past mistakes don’t dictate my entire future. How else can I get a nursing degree, if I have terrible grades, that I can’t retake or fix? Are nursing schools at hospitals easy to get into? Anyone have any advice?
