School Struggles: Big Goals?
Hello, I'm a 14-year-old high school student facing some challenges with attendance and grades. I've had a history of truancy and a few suspensions, and I'm currently struggling in some classes. Despite this, I'm determined to aim for admission to either Choate Rosemary Hall or Phillips Exeter Academy. I'm aware my current situation may seem like a stretch, but I'm committed to improving during my freshman and sophomore years with the goal of applying during my junior year. I'd appreciate any advice or insights from those familiar with these schools or experienced in admissions.

Currently, I am interested in understanding the key factors that colleges prioritize when evaluating applications. Specifically, I would like to gain insights into which academic courses, extracurricular activities, and club involvements are considered significant. I believe it is important to proactively plan for my future success, hence my inquiry. While I am already engaged in a number of clubs and enrolled in a high-level math class, I am eager to explore additional opportunities that will maximize my chances of admission to the college of my choice.

Does anyone know of any nursing programs that aren’t impossible to get into? Anyone have any advice?
I got into nursing programs in high school. Couldn’t afford any of them, so I just went to community college. I decided to work towards an associates degree in film studies, but became an alcoholic and failed out. My grades are completely terrible. I’m now sober, and trying to turn my life around The problem, is that the community college doesn’t offer ANY film classes, or degrees in film anymore due to declining enrollment. I have absolutely no way of retaking those classes. I’m currently an EMT student, and I’m doing very well. I’m incredibly happy to be sober and on the right track, I just hope my past mistakes don’t dictate my entire future. How else can I get a nursing degree, if I have terrible grades, that I can’t retake or fix? Are nursing schools at hospitals easy to get into? Anyone have any advice?
Can I get hospital volunteer hours virtually?
I want to be an ophthalmologist in the future, and I am currently a high school sophomore (10th grade). I know in pre-med/medical school admissions they ask a lot about what experience you have in the health care field, but I'm not sure how I can do that in the current times (the pandemic). I know the Mayo Clinic has some programs for high school students, and I'm applying for those - but are there other virtual opportunities that are currently available for this? Thank you! Is it possible to complete a psychology PhD under a faculty member in a different department?
I'm looking into psychology graduate programs, particularly looking for researchers who study sexuality/relationships. People in this area vary in their actual department - for example, some are in sociology, communications, medicine, social work, etc. which vary pretty drastically from psych in terms of how the departments operate. If someone in a department like this is studying something I'm very interested in from a psychology perspective, would I be able to somehow complete my PhD under them? Can I do that by having a co-advisor in the psych department and if so, what might be the criteria for finding an advisor in psych? #psychology #research #grad-school #social-work #psychiatry #communications #sociology #graduate-school #phd #admissions #applications #college #medicine
Do global internships benefit you when it comes to veterinary school applications??
I'm currently an undergraduate looking to apply to vet school in a few years. I know that having relevant experience is crucial, so I've been applying for lots of internships. I fond some summer opportunities abroad, but there are steep program fees and I'm wondering if entry into these would be more beneficial to my application since most revolve around research or wildlife rehabilitation with animals in a setting that may not be as readily available in the US. #internship #science #college #veterinary #job #admissions #veterinary-school #vet-school #veterinarian #research #global #grad-school #graduate-school #resume #application #work

What is the most important factor to consider when choosing a college?
I've managed to come up with a list of several schools that I like and would enjoy attending, but I'm at a bit of a loss when it comes to which schools I should even apply to, let alone which one I should go to, one has a way better academic program, but the price is a lot higher and it's a lot further away from my home. Another is incredibly cheap, has somewhat decent academics, but is located in the emptiness corner of Minnesota. Others half check all the boxes, I'm not sure how to whittle down the list, and wanted advice on what other people thought. #college #admissions

What are some steps I can take to increase chances of admission at Georgia Tech?
I am currently a high school senior at a public high school in Atlanta, GA. So far, my SAT scores, GPA, Transcripts, and AP scores are high. I'm also in a school acapella club, do choir, and have been doing Academic Bowl for the past 3 years. This coming school year, I am going to lead my school's Academic Bowl and Math Club. However, I have only taken 4 AP's, and I am only going to take 1 AP and 2 Dual Enrollment classes (College English and Multi-variable Calculus) this coming year. Also, besides doing some service hours during Service Day, my service record has not been exactly the best.
