Should I apply to early admission even though I do not sufficient money to pay for the college and would rely heavily on financial aid?

I was wondering whether it is safe to apply to a college early admission even though I do not have sufficient money to pay for it. I don't want to be in a situation where I get to a college, can't afford it, so I have to take many loans. #college #financial-aid #application #early-action

When applying to colleges should I submit my resume, even if they do not require or ask for it?

I am a junior in high school currently working on updating my resume to reflect my academic and extracurricular activities/achievements. Since creating a resume is time-consuming, I thought it may be worthwhile to send to colleges so they will have a good idea of who I am as a student. #college #resume #application

What extracurricular experiences (beyond academics) do you believe were most beneficial in helping you prepare for and enter medical school?

I plan to apply for medical schools within the next 2 years and am curious as to what has been most helpful for others (in their personal opinion) to gain acceptance. I often hear that while grades and honors are important, there are many other things that admissions committees look for in an applicant. As a psychology student, I also wonder if extracurriculars will be even more important for me as I don't have as strong of a biology/chemistry background. #medicine #physician #medicine-school #extracurriculars #admissions #application #academic

Preparing for Medical School, what should I focus on the most?

I understand that grades, GPA, and test scores are extremely important when applying for medical school, or anything medical for that matter. I also know that they like to look at 'unique' characteristics that make the applicant stand out, like taking a different major than the generic ones. And I also know that they like to see a 'well-rounded' applicant- one who works and helps out with community service while studying. My question is: Which one is more important working or doing community service? Seeing as most of my time will be devoted to studying (and trying to keep a healthy lifestyle), I need to determine which is the most important to focus on. I'm just concerned that my application won't be impressive enough and will look, well, sad because of 'lack of effort'. #college #medicine #healthcare #application

Should I apply to a school that barely offers scholarship? Even if I have a decent change of getting in?

Rhode Island School of Design is one of my top schools that I'd like to attend. However, as they are a top art school of the country, they don't offer merit scholarships at all, only financial ones. Should I still apply anyway? I feel like I have a good chance of getting in, just not sure if I could attend because the tuition and board and everything is so expensive... #art-school #application #tuition

Hi! I hoping to study OT in the future for grad school. However, due to COVID-19, I am not planning to volunteer at the hospital or old folks home. How do SAT and ACT scores influence how people look at you through application?

I normally do well in school in terms of my own courses and earned high grades for those courses, but I'm not a strong standardized test-taker. I'm afraid that if colleges look at my SAT and ACT scores, I might not get accepted to a very selective college. #college #application

Do global internships benefit you when it comes to veterinary school applications??

I'm currently an undergraduate looking to apply to vet school in a few years. I know that having relevant experience is crucial, so I've been applying for lots of internships. I fond some summer opportunities abroad, but there are steep program fees and I'm wondering if entry into these would be more beneficial to my application since most revolve around research or wildlife rehabilitation with animals in a setting that may not be as readily available in the US. #internship #science #college #veterinary #job #admissions #veterinary-school #vet-school #veterinarian #research #global #grad-school #graduate-school #resume #application #work

Is it more beneficial to have unpaid internships and more of a variety of experience or paid work with strong connections, but not as much of a variety of experience??

I'm hoping to make my future applications to veterinary school as strong as possible and I'm wondering if paid work is given more consideration even if it isn't necessarily as varied as having multiple unpaid internships in a range of sub-fields. # #internship #volunteer #college #vet-school #veterinary-school #veterinarian #application #experience #resume

What do colleges and universities look for in applicants?

I've always been told that you should be a "well-rounded" person if you want to get accepted to a good college, but that has never made sense to me. If I was a part of a college board I'd want students that excelled in a field that they are passionate about and would rather them be great in that area than be alright in every area. So what do they look for when considering who to accept into their schools? Thanks for any input and advice! #college #university #students #application #college-admissions

On college applications, should I include all of my community service, or should I just include the things that meant the most?

With a busy after school schedule what are some things that stand out in college applications that are not school affiliated?

It's a well known fact that colleges look for many extracurricular activities while viewing an individual's application. At my school I am involved with the drama club and due to the intense schedule of productions, whenever I have free time in the year it is at an awkward time (only December, May, and June) and I cannot easily join clubs I had no affiliation with before. Seeing as I want to stand out on applications but cannot necessarily participate in clubs I want to, what sort of other activities also stick out to colleges? #college #extracurriculars #admissions #application #clubs
