I enjoy art but I'm not sure if I'd be able to find a job with a degree on it.

Any artists willing to be interviewed?

I have a school project and part of it is interviewing someone from my chosen field. I want to be a fine artist, and would appreciate it if any fine artists/artists in general would be willing to answer my questions. If you are able to, please answer the following questions. Thanks in advance! 1. When did you first decide that you wanted to work as an artist? 2. How long have you been working as an artist? 3. Would you say it’s an easy job? 4. Did you go to an art college or get some form of education for this career? If so, what school did you go to? 5. How has your art career been so far? 6. What is your motivation for making art? 7. Where do you get your inspiration for your artwork? 8. What materials do you use? Do you stick to a few specific ones or do you like to branch out? 9. Does art help you with other skills in life? 10. What have been your favorite and least favorite parts about being an artist? 11. Have you ever collaborated with other artists? If so, what was it like? 12. What advice would you give to any aspiring artists out there?

What are the best steps to take as someone who would like to pursue both social work and animation?

I plan to finish college with at least a bachelor's in animation, but possibly a masters! This would mean I would probably have to double major. I'd like to do this at UGA, UNG, or maybe Breanau here in Georgia. This has been my plan for quite some time, however, if there are better options for me I'm more than willing to hear it. #social-work #art #art-school #double-major #georgia #animation #LSW #career

Should I apply to a school that barely offers scholarship? Even if I have a decent change of getting in?

Rhode Island School of Design is one of my top schools that I'd like to attend. However, as they are a top art school of the country, they don't offer merit scholarships at all, only financial ones. Should I still apply anyway? I feel like I have a good chance of getting in, just not sure if I could attend because the tuition and board and everything is so expensive... #art-school #application #tuition

Should I transfer schools? [College transfer]

Hello CareerVillage community! I'm currently a college student in my second year. I'm about to complete my fourth semester at my public school, where I'm pursuing a BFA in Studio Art, concentration in Graphic Design. I just declared my major as Graphic Design, but the program that I am in is lacking in many, many ways. It's not rigorous enough for me, and I feel like it's not challenging enough for me. My university is definitely not known for this major. I did want to transfer out in my first year, and planned on transferring out after making a portfolio, but I stayed for the friends I made and the communities I became a part of. But with the major that I'm in, it's a bit of a tricky situation. Should I be looking to transfer to more professional art schools? I do feel confident enough in my ability, but I have no portfolio. It's too late to make one, and I don't have time to apply as a junior transfer. It's a bit of a pickle. I know it's late, but I really didn't want to leave my school right now, but after spending a semester in upper-level Graphic Design courses, I'm seeing how awful the program is. Should I stick to my college right now, in a very lacking BFA program, or attempt to transfer to a more expensive school and wait a year to apply? I'm conflicted. Thank you in advance! tags: #art #graphic-design #college-transfer #art-school #fine-art #transfer

Should I go to an Art School or take up a creative profession if I know that there is a very low chance of me succeeding and making a living?

I'm asking this because I want to try to get into an Art school because most of the things that I do and am interested in are mainly based on creativity and also a lot of my hobbies but I'm not sure if I am able to gain the skills that I need nor will I have the ingenuity that people look for in those subjects. #art-school #career-path #college

What are some good tips for finding a career in illustration?

I am very excited to be going to college soon for my bachelors degree in fine arts with an illustration major. I am doing well in school and have had many people say that I should have chosen a different major that will be easier to find a job in. It would be amazing to have a carrier doing what I love, but it would also be bitterly disappointing if I went through all that schooling for nothing. #graphic-design #drawing #illustrator #art-school
