What are good gateway jobs/money making activities for a high schooler going into a degree for business if they wish to enter into the career of finance, accounting, or marketing (preference in finance).?

I'm a senior in high school who is unable to work anything other then remote due to family issues. I've been looking for jobs relating to what my career is for quite some time but I can't find anything worthwhile. I'm going to be basically by myself the moment I turn 18 and am in desperate need of assistance.

Does commercial banking involve being in teams?

Hello, I'm a first year college student considering commercial banking as a career (or at least my first). I interned at JPMC and enjoyed the fact that there were teams and people worked together on projects. Is this also the case in commercial banking roles? If so, then which ones? In my career I would like to work with individual people and small businesses instead of big companies and the wealthy. I'm not sure if I can work in corporate and do this at the same time. Thank you

what are some investment banking/finance-related opportunities?

I currently study finance at Taylor University, Malaysia. And am interested in investing, banking, finance, economics, and how money works. I was looking for opportunities to work in a related sector such as investment banking or banks in general. Still, I want to know which countries have such opportunities in the finance sector and have demand for it, which can provide a good experience and ability to grow. I know generally that the US is the best option but there is too much competition at the moment so Im searching for the less competitive markets for ex: Europe, Canada, or Arabic countries? Besides that, I wanted to know what courses or work experience I should take during my studies to improve my resume and make me highly qualified in this field.

How to network and get an IB bulge bracket internship?

I would like some pieces of advice on how to network/increase my chances to get an IB internship at a bulge bracket bank. I am an international rising sophomore at Stanford with perfect grades and relevant finance internships. However, I am not great at networking and know that it is super important. How many times, for instance, do I normally need to talk to someone for them to give me a referral? Any tips on how to navigate the process? I am a bit clueless. Thanks in advance!

Does a career in Sales and Trading allow for a natural transition to investment management/buy side?

Accepted a sales and trading internship and I am interested in investment management/ portfolio management long-term. Does S&T set you up well to jump to the buy side? I partially accepted the internship because I thought the exposure to institutional investors would help me make the leap, but it seems like a lot of S&T professionals stay in the field their whole careers.

Seeking insights on Sales and Trading internships and full-time roles?

Hi everyone! I am a rising junior and recently accepted a 2024 Sales and Trading internship in New York. My offer letter said I would be working with the equities group but beyond that, I am going in blind. I have several questions that I would really appreciate some insight on: -As I shadow and rotate among the desks, how will the bank determine whether I will be a trader or on the sales side, and what desk I would be on if given a return offer? Is one role or desk better relatively speaking? -My impression of S&T may be slightly outdated, but is the role at high risk for automation and AI? This is the only thing I can think about in my current internship because everything seems to be easily automatable. -I am very interested in investment management and my long-term goal is to work in portfolio management. Does S&T set you up well to transition to the buy side? I partially accepted the internship because I thought the exposure to institutional investors would help me make the leap, but it seems like a lot of S&T professionals stay in the field their whole careers. -Finally, I am really interested in ESG issues and impact investing, will I be able to explore this evolving theme in an S&T role? Thanks in advance for any perspectives you can provide!

What are the chances to get into Investment Banking (any job) as intern without any experience nor a Master's Degree in Finance / CFA? What should I expect in terms of hours worked and chances of growth if I make it?

I am turning 28 this year. My past experience is in Marketing and Sales and just got my Undergraduate Business degree in 2019. During univeristy I picked up some finance subjects as electives like corporate and financial markets. I really love to sell, to invest and to be aware of what happens in the financial sector everyday. I try to learn things by myself but I am afraid is not enough to convince a hiring manager to have me as an intern. Currently I am studying a postgraduate in Business Intelligence. If it's too late, what other similar companies I could try? PE o VC for example? Also, is always Financial Analyst the entry level position for everyone new in the industry? Thanks!!!! #finance #IB #investmentbanking #internship #financialanalyst #banking #business #career #investment #entrylevel
