I want major in bioinformatics, can you tell me something about this major?

What is the job outlook for bioinformatics professionals in the coming decades?I'm planning on earning a bioinformatics degree during my undergraduate degree, and I was hoping to learn the prospects of the career, itself, should I choose to pursue further education in the field. I was hoping to hear about how demand is predicted to rise/fall in the coming decades and whether it is a job that is easy to outsource. #college-major #job #bioinformatics

Are online courses worth the time?

I'm going to be doing Bsc Biomedical Science in the fall as a freshman. It's a pretty vast field and it's not known to be very prospective right after an undergrad degree. I am planning to do a post-grad degree but I heard online courses in important fields like business and computer science would give me a little edge, job-wise. Is that true? Will they be considered as serious courses (considering I pay for the certificates of course)?

is there a way to try out for biostatistic?

I think I want to be a biostatistician, I wonder if there's online class/ program/ book or anything I could read or try out for a while? background information: I graduated from biomedical science (BS) back in May 2022, my school is just a generic state school ( University of Akron located at Akron, Ohio ). During the last few semester of my program I found out I was interested in biostatistic, but I never got to take the biostatistic class due to faculty layoff. However, I did toke statistic for engineer class, and I did ok in the class. thank you for your advice!

fresh graduate, need help to go for next step

I just graduated with my biomedical science degree (BS) ( I was thinking to going for medical school, or PA school, or AA school , or vet med school ). My situation has changed, I want to do WFH jobs. I haven't found much jobs I could do, I been applying for clinical research associate jobs... but they are not the best fit, so far all I got are rejection. I was thinking to get into a master program, that would lead me to a WFH job.... I feel like the only program I would be able to do is biostatistic, or bioinformatic. I toke some statistic class in college, used some R... I'm not great at it but I'm willing to practice to get better. I think I need overall guidance and direction... maybe there are different master programs I should be looking for? if anyone have any ideas, please feel free to share. Thank you ahead , Merry Christmas

Biotechnology vs Biomedicine vs Bioinformatics

Hello everyone, i'am a non-traditional student and i'am transferring to a for year with an ultimate goal of applying to Medical school. However, I'am having a difficult time choosing a transfer major, at my home institution I've already completed a large majority of science courses from Mircobio to Physics. Since I've completed these courses, its only befitting for me to choose a major that will uptake my current credits. The majors of interest are biotechnology, biomedicine and bioinformatics. Now, although I've researched the hell out of these majors, i still don't know what a typical work day would look like for either profession or if it is a profitable and complementary pathway to my ultimate goals. Someone please help, if you are in any of these fields. Thank you in advance #college-major #biotechnology #bioinformatics #biomedicine #Premed #Medicalschool #college-major

Advice for PhD seeking

I am currently a junior undergraduate student at the University of Washington and plan to pursue a PhD in the genomic sciences. I have experience in research, with over a year in three different labs. However, I am worried that my major makes me a less competitive applicant to programs such as Genomic Sciences. I am majoring in Public Health with minors in Bioethics and Anthropology. I was wondering what do you suggest to make myself a more competitive applicant? Are there any projects I should take on to demonstrate my skills? #graduateschool #bioinformatics #research

I'm considering a career in biomedical engineering but I have heard a little bit about biomathmatics. Is it possible to integrate biomathmatics into a BME career?

I've always been good at math and science. I participated in Moody's Math Challenge last year and really enjoyed the experience. Math comes easy to me. I enjoy adding science into the equation as well as science fascinates me but I find it more challenging, therefore I want to find a career that will incorporate my love for both math and science. Innovation is important to me, so I would love to find the correct path of using data and science in a career that drives innovation. #mathematics #bioengineering #bioinformatics #data-science
