What classes can I take during my senior year that will help me progress in a biomedical field.

I have finished most of my required classes in high school. I want to know what classes will be most beneficial for me to take my senior year, besides AP classes that count as prerequisites. I want to spend the least amount of time in college and still get my biomedical engineer degree. #women-in-science #biomedical #medicine #biology #healthcare #senior-year

With the field of biomedical engineering, are there any problems being a girl?

I heard that in most STEM fields, being a girl means you earn less, there are less opportunities, not as many companies believe girls are capable, girls are of less value. I wanted more information if this was a myth or if it was true and how it might be a bad decision to go into this field. #career-in-the-field-of-biomedical-engineering #biomedical-engineering #biomedical #biomedical-engineer

As an engineering student, is it more harmful than beneficial to look for jobs or internships outside of your specific field of engineering?

I am a Biomedical Engineering student, and my degree includes many Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical Engineering practices. It sometimes becomes difficult to find Biomedical Engineering jobs specifically, so I am considering working in other areas of engineering to simply gain experience first. #engineering #biomedical #internships #jobs

Are there any outlets for socialization or working with people in the fields of genetics/biomedical science?

I'm in love with biomedical engineering and genetics/genomics, but I also tend to be a social butterfly. I'm concerned that the constant lab work and studies will keep me from interacting with people and forming stable workplace relationships. My parents have suggested the profession of genetic counseling, which is a viable option, but I was just wondering if there were any other professions that would allow for a more equal science/communication balance. #genetics #genetic-counseling #relationships #biomedical-engineering #biomedical #molecular-biology #biology #social #career-paths #career-path #people #psychology #college-major

How can I get in contact with people in the profession I'm considering?

I have wanted to become a biomedical engineer for many years, but there are many times when I wonder whether I would truly thrive in this career. I would love to shadow a biomedical engineer, especially as I want to declare my major in college as soon as possible. Is it rude or unacceptable for aspiring students to ask to spend time in the workplace? There aren't many interning positions a high school student is allowed to take up, but even standing on the sidelines for a single day can help students like me get a grasp of what a day of work as a biomedical engineer is like. #hungry-for-info #choosing-a-major #biomedical-engineering #biomedical #biotechnology #bioengineering #bioengineer

If I get a Bachelor's in biology, can I get a Master's and PhD in biomedical science?

I'm a high school student who wants to be a biomedical researcher, but most of the colleges that I'm looking at only offer biology and not biomedical science as a major. I'm wondering if I can jump to biomedical science in grad school, even though I didn't major in it in undergrad. #biology #research #biomedical #medical-research #biomedical-science #science-phd

I'm currently a senior in high school and plan to get a masters in Biomedical engineering. If i want to work in prosthetics, would mechanical engineering or materials science be a better undergrad degree?

I fell in love with engineering early on in my high school career but finding the right engineering field is a challenge. There are so many that appeal to me. I spent time at a biomedical engineering company over the summer and they are working on tissue regeneration and I found it fascinating, so that interests me. I also have a strong desire to work on developing prosthetics, but am wondering if a mechanical engineering degree would be better for that. #mechanical-engineering #biomedical-engineering #biomedical #materials-science
