How exactly should I choose a career in STEM?

Being in STEM is something that I would love to do however, I am not sure exactly what career I want. I know I want to do something that can help people, possibly work with machinery, and have a really good pay. I hate working in teams and I would rather meet up with people initially to discuss plans and then do my work independently. But, engineering does do a lot of team work so I really need to learn how to be efficient with my time. I have been in multiple STEM programs but one of my favorite projects were creating prosthetic limbs and designing mechanical parts and research. So, I am interested in biomedical engineering but, I am also interested in aerospace. Growing up, I never really had much of an interest in planes but I really like learning about space and different theories or possibilities of what the world can look like billion years from now. I have other interests in career choices such as mechatronics, cyber security, and mechanical engineering. I have talked to other people of how exactly should I choose my career but they would always tell me to, ¨follow your passion¨. But here´s the thing... I don´t have a passion! How exactly can I even choose the right career for me when I don´t have passion and I just like STEM?

Suggestions for job hunting in SF with no industry experience

My name is Chiara and I'm a biomedical engineer from Italy. I've done a double master degree program with my university in Italy and UIC in Chicago. Now, I'm on OPT (Optical Practical Training) working permission and I moved to San Francisco looking for great opportunities to start with. I do not have internship, but I had a lot of research experience and a strong background in problem solving. #research #engineer #biomedical #sanfrancisco #suggestions

Are there any outlets for socialization or working with people in the fields of genetics/biomedical science?

I'm in love with biomedical engineering and genetics/genomics, but I also tend to be a social butterfly. I'm concerned that the constant lab work and studies will keep me from interacting with people and forming stable workplace relationships. My parents have suggested the profession of genetic counseling, which is a viable option, but I was just wondering if there were any other professions that would allow for a more equal science/communication balance. #genetics #genetic-counseling #relationships #biomedical-engineering #biomedical #molecular-biology #biology #social #career-paths #career-path #people #psychology #college-major

What exactly is biomedical engineering, and what do people in this profession do?

Ever since I was little, I wanted to be a doctor. Now that I have become a high school student, I've done research about what it takes to go to medical school. Helping and interacting with others is what I want to do. Although, I don't think I have what it takes to go into medical school. Recently someone suggested going into biomedical engineering, but I am not sure if I understand what it is. #medicine #doctor #medical #healthcare #college #biomedical #biomed #bio #engineering

as someone interested in entering the biotech industry. Would it be smarter to get a general engineering degree or a biomedical engineering degree?

From what I understand Biomedical engineering degrees can become very limiting, especially when there are fewer jobs available in the biomedical industry and landscape. So, would it be smarter to start of a little more broad with a traditional engineering degree (i.e. mechanical, electrical, chemical). #engineering #future #Bio #biomedical
