How do I get started as an illustrator/graphic designer?

Hi! I'm a lifelong artist currently recovering from my engineering day job and the toll it's taken on my mental health. (Mechanical Engineering grad, 2-ish years into my career). I've finally gotten to a point where I'm ready to take the plunge and look for a more creative career. I'm totally lost on where to go from there, though. I would absolutely love to illustrate books but I don't think I'm ready to fully shift to freelance work. What other career options should I explore that are similar but a little more stable? (And ideally include healthcare, lol) What programs/certifications should I prioritize? What should I include in my portfolio? Thanks in advance :) please feel free to leave any other advice you have for me!

What do I need to know my senior year to prepare for picking colleges?

I'm a senior in high school, and I do an online schooling for credit recovery. I graduate in the spring, but have only recently decided that I want to go to college. I have very limited knowledge of what I should be doing to prepare to apply for college. I decided to major in psychology (BA), and pick my minor on which school I'm applying to. I want to be a family therapist, and I recently learned I'll need to get my masters for that. That being said I'm confused on how my undergraduate year would work. Do I have to do 6 years of school, and if not what would I be doing? I only have one person I could ask that would be able to help me with college information, but I don't know exactly how to ask or what I need to ask them. Any kind of light that can be shed on my situation would be greatly appreciated.

What professions can offer certain level of versatility to work on in-demand industries within years of duration?

Future-proofing is something I am in need to have. My interests can be diverse and multifaceted. This, primarily composed of Business, Tech (e.g. AI & Technological Developments and Modernisations), and Science. Recommending categorial variances of degrees which can bridge between the three's something I'd be beyond thankful for you to answer. However open on you opting to expand the advice/s with different aspects beyond.

Should I get a second bachelor's degree if I didn't like my career-oriented classes in my first BS degree?

I loved my lower division classes for my Bachelor's. I majored in Interactive Design, and my less-career related classes included drawing, color theory, and visual communication. As I got into the upper division classes, I found I enjoyed them less and less. It's been several years since I graduated, and I would love to have more experiences with a creative-oriented academic environment, as I feel that I don't have enough on my portfolio, nor do I have the knowledge of taking a creative campaign through every 'creation phase', to compete with my more creative-minded peers in the artistic community. I found a program that really speaks to me, that merges art and marketing. I am not currently interested in pursuing graduate level work, as I haven't found a grad program that would help me 'catch up' creatively, whilst also innovating in a business direction*. *I've found graduate programs vaguely in that direction, but they are mostly offered by private institutions, and I do not have the budget to attend a private school (I'm in the US). ADVICE?

How do I proceed when I have a lot of possible careers but not enough experience in any to work full-time?

I realized late into my college experience that I didn't want to work a math job at all so I finished out my Math degree and am now struggling to find a full-time job I feel qualified for. I have a list of 5 or so potential careers (Including but not limited to: Singer-Songwriter, Writer, Naturalist, Photographer, Artist), but I don't feel like I'm at the point where I could pursue any of them full-time. I'm wondering if I should just get a math job and explore the other options in my free-time, if I should just find any job related to my current interests, or if I should put off getting a full-time job until I get a little clearer in my objective. I'm alright on cash for now, I'd just prefer not to live with my parents for longer than I have to. I'm most likely overthinking this and you probably would need some more information to give a solid path forwards, but whatever. I'm here to listen. Thanks for all your help!

what are some investment banking/finance-related opportunities?

I currently study finance at Taylor University, Malaysia. And am interested in investing, banking, finance, economics, and how money works. I was looking for opportunities to work in a related sector such as investment banking or banks in general. Still, I want to know which countries have such opportunities in the finance sector and have demand for it, which can provide a good experience and ability to grow. I know generally that the US is the best option but there is too much competition at the moment so Im searching for the less competitive markets for ex: Europe, Canada, or Arabic countries? Besides that, I wanted to know what courses or work experience I should take during my studies to improve my resume and make me highly qualified in this field.
