What are some relevant careers involving biology or chemistry and what should I major in to enter those careers?

I know I'm interested in a career in biology or chemistry or both, but I don't know what major I should choose to have flexibility in choosing careers in both fields. I want to enter a high-paying career that will not expire in the near future. Or maybe my uncertainty as a junior in high school doesn't matter because I can just switch majors if things don't work out as an undergraduate. #biology #chemistry #biomedical-engineering #chemical-engineering #biotechnology #biochemistry #career-details

Biomedical Engineering vs Chemical Engineering with Bio specialization?

I have been interested in pursuing a Biomedical Engineering major. However, people argue that biomedical engineering is the jack of all trades and master of none. This has been concerning for me as I would very much like to major in something and feel that I have mastered what I am learning without needing to go back to school for a Master's Degree. I aim to be successful in an engineering career once I have graduated my bachelor's degree. What is the difference between graduating with a Biomedical Engineering major and graduating with a Chemical Engineering major with a concentration in bio? Are potential careers different for these two? Is one better than the other? #engineering #biomedical-engineering #chemical-engineering #biotechnology #biochemistry #chemical-engineer #stemcareers #stem16

As a woman in a STEM field or a woman going into a STEM field, have you ever felt that you were in any discriminated against due to your gender?

As an 18 year old female chem major (soon to be chemical engineering), I'm curious about others experiences in typically male dominated classes/majors/jobs. #engineering #science #chemistry #stem #chemical-engineering #women-in-stem #women-in-tech #women-in-engineering

I'm a chemical engineering graduate and I hate this degree. I've always wanted to be a doctor and even after doing well at school, i was unable to get a place to study medicine. Now I'm stuck with this degree and I dont know what to do. Please help.

I initially chose chemical engineering as I thought that I could get into the pharmaceutical engineering side of the industry and I knew that they were sought after in the finance sector. Unfortunately my applications haven't worked out and there's no scope for chem eng in pharmaceuticals in my country. The idea of working on a chemical plant away from the city in overalls isn't for me and I know I screwed up really badly and i feel like a complete failure. I'm also not in a financial position where I can study another degree. I want to help people and not be stuck in a job because the money is good but my happiness is minimal. #engineering #chemical-engineering #medicine #healthcare #college #hospital-and-health-care

What is the best industry in your opinion for a Chemical Engineer to work in?

I want to know what industry: polymers, paper, dyes, drugs, plastics, fertilizers, foods, petrochemicals..., would be the most fun and interesting one to work on. I'm not looking for which one looks the best in terms of job growth but instead which seems to be the most creative for the individual Chemical Engineer. #chemical-engineering

What's the day-to-day routine of a Chemical Engineer actually like?

I want to get my Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, but I want to know what problems they deal with everyday rather than generic "Some chemical engineers make designs and invent new processes. Some construct instruments and facilities. Some plan and operate facilities. Chemical engineers have helped develop atomic science, polymers, paper, dyes, drugs, plastics, fertilizers, foods, petrochemicals...". #chemical-engineering

What are the most challenging things in trying to engineer new products or technologies?

I am a freshman in high school; thus, I have a little while to think about my possible career paths. I have always wanted to go into the medical field until recently, when engineering caught my eye. I always see companies coming up with the newest technologies that can do extraordinary things such as save lives or make daily chores almost nonexistent. I know that technology is always morphing and improving based on findings, but I always have wondered if it is stressful to try and think of new devices that will be the future of society. I feel as if that would put me under too much pressure and I wouldn't be able to enjoy my job. Is that not the case? #engineering #mechanical-engineering #civil-engineering #computer-engineering #electrical-engineering #software-engineering #chemical-engineering #industrial-engineering

I'm planning on getting an engineering degree and then going into the medical field to become a doctor. Is biomedical engineering the best course of action for me, or is there another engineering field that would both interest and be beneficial for me?

I've been involved with the Math, Engineering, and Science Academy at my high school for the past four years and absolutely loved it. I love physics and I love the engineering classes offered at my school; however I've always been entranced with the prospect of being a doctor. I'd like to go to medical school after my bachelor's degree and was wondering which field of engineering would be best for me if I were to continue considering it. #computer-software #doctor #engineering #civil-engineering #biomedical-engineering #chemical-engineering #women-in-stem #women-in-tech
