What should my major be as an undergrad if I want to attend medical school?

What major would be best to have as an undergraduate if I later want to attend medical school? Would it be something like biology, chemistry, or biochemistry? Or include something like psychology or sociology? Double majors and dual-degrees would be an option, but what do med school interviewers look for the most? #college-majors #majors #college #university #medicine #med-school #premed #biology #chemistry #psychology

What are some commonly chosen minors to go with a chemistry major?

Hello, I am an incoming freshman for the fall semester of 2018 and well, this is stressful time. I am trying to figure out what I want to do and how to go about it and all that fun jazz. I really enjoy studying chemistry and so I am probably going to be majoring in it. I would really like some recommendations on what are some commonly chosen minors that go along with a field such as a chemistry. Also, what are some career options? Thank you! #minors #career #freshmanincollege #chemistry

Is it necessary to minor in chemistry if I am interested in the criminal forensic laboratory field?

Hello, I am a current student at Xavier University located in Cincinnati, Ohio (Go Muskies!). I am double major in criminal justice and psychology and will hope to complete Xavier University with a bachelor degree in science. With my immense passion for justice, I want to take my bachelor degree to criminal forensic lab. However, I am concern that I may or may not be on the correct path in making my way to what I want to pursue in my career option. My concern is if whether I should continue my double major with criminal justice and psychology and go forth a minor in chemistry. Another option that I had in mind was if I should consider psychology as a minor and make chemistry my actual second major? I have already proceeded to gain required hours for my psychology major is that helps with anyone answering my question(s)/concern. I would appreciate anyones guidance, professional or not. What are the most important factors to consider when applying to grad school?

I would like to go to graduate school for either biology or chemistry (I have not decided yet), but I don't know what my focus should be for my applications over the next few years. I know every school will weight certain aspects differently, but overall should I be more concerned about GRE test scores? My undergraduate GPA? Research experience? Course-work? Essays? What would be most important to ace when sending in applications? How can I go about preparing myself for doing well on these parts of my application? #graduate-school #school #college #biology #chemistry

How can you build experience for chemistry/biology lab-based careers?

I am interested in doing research or working in a lab as a career, but I have no clue how I should go about gaining experience for positions outside of what I'm learning in college. I currently do undergraduate research but it oftentimes does not feel like enough! Many lab jobs seem highly specific in what they study, the equipment they use, and the methods they use to study their subjects. How can I ensure I am prepared to get a job in my desired field upon graduation? What steps should I take over the next few years (while I'm still working toward a bachelor's degree and going to graduate school) to make sure I am confident in my skills as a researcher/scientist? #career-counseling #career-choice #chemistry #biology #entry-level

What of my interests would be worth making minors/majors on my planned degree in environmental engineering?

I plan to get a degree in environmental engineering, but I also love biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and non-science-related Spanish. Would it be too difficult, expensive, or otherwise to add any of those as a second major and/or have the remaining be minors? Especially in the case of Spanish, because I would like to continue studying Spanish but is unrelated to the rest of the topics I am interested in. What would, if anything, stop me from pursuing to some degree, all of these subjects? #degree #degrees #career-path #career-path-planning #biology #chemistry #biochemistry #major #college-major #college-majors #majors-and-minors #minors
