Which university should I go to? NC state at Raleigh or Cal State, Long Beach?

I'm a international student from Iran and I have been accepted to both NCSU and CSULB and I can't decide which one I should attend :) Cal state is ranked 105 while NC state is 60 among Value schools. Cal state is a lot cheaper though and they offer scholarship for international students after their first semester but NC state doesn't offer many scholarships for international students and I didn't get scholarship anyway :) They both have a good On-Campus employment and also, I know I can be around a well Iranian community in Long Beach. I love Cal state's campus a lot better but NC state offers a very good program in engineering, which is the field I want to study. I'm planning to do double major in engineering and industrial design if I go to CSULB, engineering and politics if I go to NC state. Do you think it worth to sacrifice the prestige and ranking stuff of NC state to go to Long Beach? I feel like my heart is mostly towards Long Beach due to the nice environment and the decent cost; but my mind is more towards NC state as its ranking is better (It's a lot more expensive though). Oh and the last thing, I'm thinking of doing an exchange semester or year in Europe! I will appreciate your honest thoughts and possible experiences :) Thank you for your time to read! :)

What does it take to double major?

Hi, I am currently a sophomore high school student that is also minoring in psychology and will be earning my associates in 2025-2026. I am looking to double major in psychology and sociology. I'm not the greatest in statistics or maths so I am comprehending whether or not I should double major in psychology or just stick with sociology. Starting my associates has shined a light on how demanding (time-wise) college coursework can be. I deal with mental health problems like Bipolar disorder, and other issues that make it hard to stay on track sometimes, and can easily lead to burnout. When it comes to work, I always have the habit of prioritizing work first, and then my mental health (this has been something I've been working on recently). With a double major, I understand that I will possibly have less time to do certain things, like working, which would put me into a deep hole of financial instability. And there is the possibility of my mind and body giving out. If I do decide to double major, is there anything I can do to lessen the rate of these risks? If you have double majored, can you tell me a bit how you schedule things like working, and time for yourself?

Now that I’ve been accepted into a local college, what are some steps I can take in general to excel in my mandatory classes? Also what are some examples of mandatory classes?

I’ve been accepted into my college that I will be committing to. As of now I’m undeclared but want to minor in business and communications just to get a feel of college first before committing to a major. I already have a multitude of AP classes I’m currently taking that will cover a few college classes (AP Statistics, AP Calculus, etc). What are some recommended classed that may edge me toward and help if I do decide to major in business and communications? The college I applied to was SF State (Go Gators!) #college #college-advice #business #college-major #college-bound #business

Is university degree really necessary?

Hello, I've been wondering since I started university if it's vital for our life in the future or not. For example for me neither I finish or not I'm still getting a job because I have experience as car mechanic. I remember before starting 3 workshops wanted me to join their company (not boasting). I mean I felt so amazing to hear that and even in the thoughts. But I rejected all of them because of university. My question is if it is really worth the time. I'm halfway my second year and to be honest I had the greatest time of my life by going out with friends, having good times and making long lasting memories that I still now think of, going for cycling and hiking and the best part returning back to your own home. It's a great experience if you are good financially. However, I'm a mediocre student. I'm afraid of the time. We're talking about 4 years. I could work instead and make money and gain even more experience. To sum up, it is worth? What's your opinion upon your experience and thoughts? Thank you! PS: I study Aircraft Engineering and live in the EU. Since most people are from USA I want to inform you that colleges don't have tuitions. They are free in Greece and some other countries in the EU. I only pay for rents, food and commuting. Also, it's a major I don't like so much. I pursue it for its salary only. #university #college #degree #career #college-advice #job

Should I go to a more expensive, prestigious school for the experience and opportunities, or take a more affordable route so that I will have less financial burden in the future?

I got accepted to UCLA, however, I am wondering if it is worthwhile to attend UCLA if it means that I will create more debt for myself in the future. I want the diversity, club organizations, experience, and research opportunities that it offers (I am an Undeclared- Life Sciences major at the moment), although I am not sure what I want to do for a career or exactly what major I want. I have many varying interests in completely different areas (such as acrobatics, dance, biology, theater), and I am hoping that by attending such a diverse university that I will be able to explore these interests and define what is best for me. But then again, the debt (*sigh*). I also realize that it will be more cutthroat at such a university, and therefore I will have to dedicate more time towards studying and possibly might not be able to fit all the things I want to do into my schedule. If I go to a more affordable school, I may not have the same opportunities as at UCLA or be around as driven students as myself. Also, IT'S UCLA!! What should I do?? #UCLA #affordablility #experience #undeclared #choosing-a-college #college-selection #college #college-advice

What to do when you're denied from your top colleges?

I've recently been denied from my reach schools and a few of my safety schools. I've applied to a couple more but at this point it's hard to get scholarships from those schools since i've applied too late. However, i've been accepted to two small private liberal arts schools but they're not exactly what i'm looking for in a school. #college-selection #college-advice
