What careers and college majors would you consider if these were your interests?

Not sure if it's the same for other high school students but mine has us focus on self-awareness and college prep as part of curriculum outside of working with our guidance counselors. It's part of my english class. Something we have been working on is an essay about our career interests. I am a high school senior with several interests focused mainly on how our mind and body work. I like building relationships to understand and help others because empathy and compassion are my most important values. I enjoy meeting new people because it exposes me to different perspectives which I believe is important. I am very curious and enjoy research to understand people such as why they think a certain way and their motivations leading to my interest in psychology. I am an avid reader and enjoy forming relationships with the characters and storyline which also helps broaden my perspective and learn about people. I’d like to be able to encourage and help others understand themselves and build their self-confidence, particularly those who are misunderstood. I am also very detail and process-oriented meaning I like organizing, setting goals, and planning particularly for self-improvement. I’m good at science and math, which are my other favorite subjects because they allow me to solve problems requiring logic and order. Industries I am interested in are education, health care, and mental health

What careers do you think relate to my interests?

Hi everyone, I did some self-reflection to think about my career interests and what to study in college. I’m a high school senior looking to combine interests in public policy, law, and computer science for social impact. Areas of social impact I am interested in are income inequality, health care accessibility, and STEM inclusion for minority groups. I’ve developed an interest in policies impacting marginalized groups through AP Government, TV shows and movies involving legal cases, and reading about past cases. I think it’s important to have a career linked to technology because it will impact our future. I’m familiar with basic computer science but am also interested in non-coding tech-related roles with one example being product management. I enjoy math and computer science because it helps improve my logical thinking skills which I believe are important for preparing for a career in tech or law. To the extent possible, I’d like the type of work I do to be challenging, fast-paced, structured, and enable diverse experiences. I work best under pressure and think it would be fun to start my career in NYC. A separate interest is organizing and planning events that help others, whether fundraising for a charity or organizing mentors and resources to educate and mentor fellow students. I’m also passionate about lifestyle design, personal productivity, and understanding myself to plan for my future and learn about career options. This occurred when I was reaching out to the local community to find partners for internships and mentors for events and school clubs I was helping run where I was exposed to a variety of career types and advice. I’m neither extremely outgoing or an introvert. I’m more reserved around new people I meet but don’t mind forming new relationships if it can lead to a positive outcome for others or help me learn new perspectives. I’m still interested in understanding people and how to influence relationships, for instance I’m currently reading the book by Daniel Carnegie “How to Win Friends & Influence People.”

How would I reach my goal if I had to stay in state for college?

I really want to go out of state for college as there's not many opportunities in South Dakota. If I were to stay in state for college, so I was wondering how I would reach my goal of a supply chain engineer, or some other supply chain job? Would an operations management minor and a management studies major be good enough, or would I have to go out of state for a supply chain management major?

What is the best associates degree to get before getting a bachelor's degree in cybersecurity?

Both my younger brother and sister want to earn their associate's degree in cybersecurity, However, I'm concerned that they will be unable to find jobs after graduating with only their associate's degree. I've researched cybersecurity jobs, and discovered that most, if not all require at least a bachelor's degree. They want to work before getting their bachelor's degree so that they can have experience and see if they like the tech industry. Are there other associate's degrees that would have more job opportunities? Also, which computer/IT associate's degree be most compatible with a bachelor's in cybersecurity (i.e. the most credits would transfer/give them a basic foundation of computer knowledge)? Thanks in advance!!!

Things to Research About Colleges

I've been looking at colleges for a while now trying to narrow down what one I'd like to go to. I just want to see what kinds of things to look for that make one college better than the other. I plan on living in the dorms, so I'll definitely look at those, but other than that (and the fact that they have the major I want) I wanted some more things to look for. It'll help narrow down my list of top choices, and might add a couple other backup plans. So any ideas of stuff to research about colleges would be fantastic!
