Is it better to live on, or off campus for college? (No matter what year)

I know to have a dorm on campus would cost significantly more for tuition opposed to not living on campus. I know that there's pros and cons for both, that's why I'm asking. #college-bound, #dorms

How important is college in my situation?

I'm going to try to keep this post short.... movies are my life. I've wanted to make films ever since I was a little kid. I can't see myself doing anything else. I'm currently a freshman at a community college. I'm currently building up my credit and saving up to pay for school. My parents can't pay for it, or cosign a loan for me. I'm the oldest of 9 kids, and my dad works a blue-collar job. They also said if they could pay for my school, they wouldn't because I'm a Film major. They don't believe in my dream. I have to do it all on my own-i kind of like it that way anyway. I've been working nonstop trying to save up, but I'm still not even close. Is college even necessary to work in the film industry? My parents keep telling me I will fail without a college degree. Academics aren't something I'm really good at. I'm a creative person. My problem is that I'm from a rural town in pennsylvania. There aren't many opportunities to work in film (or study it) in Pa. I'm planning on moving to New York City to work. I'm prepared to work odd jobs until I get my big break. NYC colleges are really expensive, and I don't know what to do. Can I succeed with an associate's degree? Or film certificate? Does anyone have any advice? I don't know who to ask. Do I need a degree to be successful? I have a hard time putting my ego aside. I don't want to see everyone else get a degree, and and go to college, but I can't. Any advice? #film #Film #film-school #movie-production #actor #college-major #college-advice #college-bound #associates-degree #cinematography #independent-films

If I go into college "indecisive" would it make me more behind than others?

I know many people that go into college with a specific career/major in mind and a few others who go into college indecisive. Iv'e recently heard many different opinions when it comes to college and what I should do. My concern is, if I were to go into college indecisive and later chose a specific major, would it cause me to be more behind compared to others who came into college with a specific Major? I thought i knew what i wanted to study in college but now I am not so sure. #college-bound

Should I be worried about moving out of my home state?

I plan on moving out of California for college to go up to either Seattle or Portland. I'm also expecting to stay in the area after college instead of returning home. I'm not sure how common this is or even if it would benefit me economically. Something that really worries me is that I won't like the area once I move there. #outofstate #college-bound #seattle #portland #california

What is the potential to make connections for a future career at a private university verses a large public university?

I am a Junior at a St. Louis area high school looking at my options for colleges. To help me decide where to go if I am accepted I am looking for feedback regarding connections available at smaller private universities. I'm looking at a school down in California. It's basically in Los Angeles. All of my family keeps telling me that I need to get a car, even though I'm probably going to get on-campus housing. Do I really need a car? I'd love to not have to get a car payment on top of everything else. #transportation #public-transportation #college #college-bound
