will college be enough to prepare me for an animation career?

I heard that most college schools teach the fundamentals of animation which is not enough for the animation industry as I've heard its extremely competitive. Employers will look at my portfolio more than my degree #computer-animation #2D-animation #3D-animation

Wanna get into the gaming industry as an animator without a college degree if possible

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had an answer to my question. So basically I'm in college for digital animation as a freshman and I'm thinking about dropping out to just pursue animation purely and not do other courses. I love animating and it's really enjoyable and I would love to learn more. But my main question is can I get a job in the gaming industry ranging from AAA companies to indie companies without a college degree and just be self taught as long as I have a really nice portfolio I wanna practice on my own for a couple of years and get better on my own. So is it possible to get a job #computer-animation #nocollege #needhelp #video-games #gaming-industry #computer-gaming

Hi, my name is Yamil, I'm currently a high school senior soon going to college. I got accepted to college and the major I chose for that college is Digital Media and Animation. Am I making the right choice with my major?

My name is Briana and I am a college freshman. I have recently finished my first semester and am confused. I had previously asked about possible major options, and had thought I was sure, but there's all types of doubts that come up with each choice. I had talked with one of the career advisors on campus, and he more or less directed me with psychology like I had mentioned. Whenever I have the chance, I'll take a personality/career quiz that usually ends up with scientist or psychologist. Now i have and am still considering psychology as a possible career, but I feel, and my mom has noticed too, that it may be a means of obsessing over past events (i.e. bullying). Considering my "experiences", is it healthy for me to continue focusing on something through these means? Aside from money and interest, my second option may be related to math, engineering, and art. Before I choose my classes for the next semester, I will talk with a counselor about any future plans. All I ask from anyone responding is a new perspective regarding if I'm being too emotional in what should be a rational decision. Thank you to anyone who responds and I wish you all happy holidays! #engineering #psychology #college-major #mathematics #japan #animation #choosing-a-major #computer-animation #first-generation

What would I need to major in if I'm interested in both math and art?

As a currently graduating senior in high school, I will be going to a community college to complete my prerequisites and the transfer to a four year university. Although I'm a little shaky on choosing a major, One of my long time interests is art; I've been drawing and experimenting since I was 10. However, just this year, I realize that I've done pretty well in my AP calculus class. Many people even came up to me as a tutor. Although I'm considering a career in psychology, my math teacher, parents and their friends are trying to push me toward an engineering school because there will be more jobs in that field. But, my heart is set on something artistic, allowing me to express myself. I've seen some behind the senses of making a Pixar movie on khan academy, but I'm not sure where to start. Thank you to anyone who responds. #art #computer-programming #animation #3d-animation #computer-animation

This question comes from a young man who has a love for drawing cartoons and aspires to work at Pixar, one day. He wants to keep his options open (he's considering Dreamworks as an option) and would love to know where else he can work and in what capacity with a background in animation. Being a Game Designer: What's the experience on the job?

As a high school student addicted to technology, i've come across the saying that if what you are doing is something you love, it hardly feels like work at all. I don't know about you guys, but I LOVE video games, a designing them myself has always been a dream of mine. As I type I have a plethora of ideas all jumbled up in my head just waiting to be heard. So what kind of things are we talking about when someone asks you what a Game Designer does? Riveting and frustrating aspects alike, I would like to know as much as I can about my aspiration. Thank you for your time in advance. Aspiring Game Designer, Dave Laplante #computer-science #computer-programming #computer-animation #hardware #user-experience
