What tips would you give to a high school student hoping to go into game programming? What did you major in, and at what college? What is something unexpected that you found out about your profession? What language should I try and learn, if I want to go into game programming? How would you go about gaining video game design education in Missouri?

Every college I look at, online or campus-based, seems to have different terms and classes for this kind of subject. Some have a straight-up "degree of game design" while others seem to put it in an umbrella under things like "electronic arts" or "computer sciences". It's all a bit confusing to remember similarities and differences. #video-games #video-game-design #game-development #computer-games

Game Company Internships for High School Students?

I've been looking into it for a few days now, but most companies in my state say that to apply for an internship requires me to be in collage. I've been having trouble as it has for the matter, and I would like to have a first hand experience to either work along side other people in the field I'm trying to go into. I just need more info on it for maybe a summer internship. #graphic-design #computer-games #game-design #game-development #career-details

Tutorials for using Unity paired with Autodesk Maya?

I am currently a psych major, but I'm very interested in computers in my free time. I'm a gamer and I've always really wanted to experiment with creation in Unity. My understanding is that AutoDesk Maya offers a 3-year free trial for students, and that it can be used to create .obj files or animations for use in games. I'm wondering where I can go to learn how to use either of these programs, really just to experiment. Are there any locations online that offer tutorials or advice specifically for these two programs? I'd love to pursue this interest. Thanks in advance! #computer-science #computer-software #computer #video-games #computer-games #unity3d #autodesk #unity2d

For any Computer Science graduate - What is the everyday life after work? Do most work at home or physically at a company? If a company, what do you work on daily as in can ya'll work independently or are there assignments/projects handed out?

I am in the top 1% in my class and I initially wanted to be an engineer, but that changed as i really loved coding in school. Writing codes and understanding them come easy to me and I really like the idea of a big open market in which a programmer can to gain attention from applications that benefit learning or creating a functional game. #computer-science #computer-software #computer #computer-games #marketing-communications

How much computer science experience do I need before I decide to major in that in college?

I want to major in computer science because I think it's a really cool subject and I want to learn more, but I feel like I don't have as much experience as everyone else who majors in that. I'm in AP computer science right now and I'm getting it as I go along, but everyone else in the class is catching on so much quicker because they've been programming for a long time. I don't want to be behind in the game, so I'm not sure if it's the right major for me since others are naturally better at it, but at the same time I like it and want to study it. #computer-science #computer-software #technology #computer-programming #computer-games #computer-hardware #computer-networking #computer-security
