How much computer science experience do I need before I decide to major in that in college?

I want to major in computer science because I think it's a really cool subject and I want to learn more, but I feel like I don't have as much experience as everyone else who majors in that. I'm in AP computer science right now and I'm getting it as I go along, but everyone else in the class is catching on so much quicker because they've been programming for a long time. I don't want to be behind in the game, so I'm not sure if it's the right major for me since others are naturally better at it, but at the same time I like it and want to study it. #computer-science #computer-software #technology #computer-programming #computer-games #computer-hardware #computer-networking #computer-security

If I don't know as much as my high school peers about tech, will I be behind in college?

The high school I currently attend doesn't have tech classes that delve into the topics of cyber security (or what cyber even is, for that matter), computer programming, or the basic fundamentals of how computers are built. Over the summer, I was chosen as a participant for the GenCyber Program at Norwich University, where I learned things that fellow participants knew but I was hearing of for the first time.. does this mean I'm behind? #computer-science #computer-programming #computer-security #cyber

In the Computer Science/Programming field, are credentials more important than student projects?

I plan to get a Master's degree in Computer Science, Programming, Software Engineering, or a related field. However, a lot of people I've talked to in the Computer Science field have told me that a MS degree in this field is unnecessary, and potential employers will judge you more based on any apps, programs, or other coded works you've designed rather than a certificate. Meaning, if I were to spend time programming an application for a company that is efficient while in college, even with a BS, I will have a higher chance of securing a career in that area than someone with a MS, or even a Ph.D. Could I get some professional input on this? #computer-software #software #programming #software-engineering #computer-programming #software-development #coding #computer-security
