Which is a better profession to pursue: marching band or computer science?

I've been around computers all my life and I love working with them. However, it seems like it could be a lot of work and not much fun to do as a job. Marching band/music seems really fun, but I don't think it'd be worth it money-wise and I won't be able to do it my entire life unless I go into educating music. #music #band #technology #computers

Is computer science a popular major?

I want to major in Computer Science at my college, however, I've been wondering if it's even a major that a lot of people even attend. It's something that I love a lot. I love to learn about computers and work with them, and in a world that's becoming run by and managed by them, is it something about the dedication needed to manage them that's the issue? I hope I'm not alone in the computer world. #computers #thinkaboutit #computer-engineering #engineering #college-major

Why is their negative stigma surrounding girls who want to major in STEM programs?

As a girl who grew up on numerous video games, I am so curious to why there is such a negative connotation of the phrase "Female Engineer." I am hoping to major in Computer Science at a large university but am so befuddled in the area of STEM careers and women. Why isn't there huge names of women in computer fields? Like a Steve Jobs or a Bill Gates? I grew up around Star Wars and technology, and have been accepted as the "nerd" I am. But I still do not get why people are so against a woman in an IT manager or CEO role. Are people intimidated? Is it rare to have smart women pursing their inner dreams, despite the social aspect of it all? #computer-science #technology #tech #video-games #stem #computer-programming #computers #women

What is the most important factor when looking into a buying a laptop for school?

My name is Briana, and I am currently a freshman in college. Throughout the summer, I had received a check for a local scholarship and am very thankful. With this money, I had planned to spend more than I currently had on textbooks. As I had spent most of y middle and high school career with a shared computer with my family, it proved to be more complicated to even get the time and silence necessary to do work. Now that i am able, my parents have set me loose onlooking for a computer that would best suit my needs. Except that I know practically nothing about them, aside for memory space and a new need for WiFi. I would thank anyone who takes the time to respond. #teacher #computer #higher-education #college-student #college-advice #computers #educational-technology
