I am in the application process for a couple of different law enforcement agencies. I still live at home and have family members who are current or retired law enforcement. I have tried being open about the process and how it will work after I graduate from academy, but there is no way I'm changing their mind on not liking the idea (which I completely understand, as a good parent will always worry). I am a senior at Lighthouse Community Charter Public School in Oakland California. I like to spend time with my family during my free time and be with my friends. For my career, I want to focus in criminology. I want to become a detective and solve cases. One of my skills is solving problems, for example math. Math is my favorite subject and I'm confident when it comes to solving a hard problem. Another skill I have is organization. I love to keep my paperwork organized to know when I keep my materials at all times. Leading up to this, I have an interesting question. To become a criminal defense attorney, I am currently studying criminal justice and was studying psych. However, I am dropping psych since they are so closely related. I was advised to do either Business Management, Accounting, or a science. I am awful at math and always have been. What other options would I have? What would look good applying for law schools?
How to narrow down a cluster of different career paths and interests, to about 3 or 4 and focus on those few, without uncertainty and second guessing?
The majors I am interested in are so different from each other (ex: architecture and law) that I am having a hard time to narrow it down to just a few. I am aware that I don't have to know now but I am on a time crunch and my goal is to narrow it down to 2 and stick with it.
