What does it take to become a detective in college?

I am a senior at Lighthouse Community Charter Public School in Oakland California. I like to spend time with my family during my free time and be with my friends. For my career, I want to focus in criminology. I want to become a detective and solve cases. One of my skills is solving problems, for example math. Math is my favorite subject and I'm confident when it comes to solving a hard problem. Another skill I have is organization. I love to keep my paperwork organized to know when I keep my materials at all times. Leading up to this, I have an interesting question. What are some advice you would give me as my next step is considering a career in criminology?

Thank you for taking the time to notice and answer my question! I am currently a psychology and criminology major at my university and I want to Master in Forensic Psychology/Criminal Psychology! Does anyone know what is the best route I should take such as internships, jobs, and school? I am currently working on research papers and plan to present it at a future conference. I'm just having a difficult time finding things that can push me to pursue this field. It is a little discouraging!

If I want to get into the Forensic Psychology field, what should I consider for my major and minor? I was thinking Psychology major and criminology minor or viceversa... I know your minor do not have to be related to your major, however, I don't know what to choose.
