Getting my Bachelors in Criminology, need more information regarding my goal careers!

Hello! I am a 24yr old student currently attending Portland State in hopes that I can finish with my Bachelors in Criminology. I have a passion for true crime and study a dozen or more cases a day on my own. I also interview inmates in prison as a hobby and blog about it. (I used to have an obsession for decoding messages and whatnot but it was HARD.) I have a few careers I really wish to get WITHOUT becoming a police officer, they are listed from greatest goal to least: Evidence Custodian, Polygraph tester, Crime analyst, Probation officer Juvenile and Victims Advocacy. I do wish to be able to interview/interrogate the suspects honestly but I have to be a detective according to all the research I've done. If anyone who has worked in any of these fields can answer this with information on how you even started your career out of college, how you trained for the job, was it easy? Hard? What certifications are needed? Basically anything to help me. I am really hoping to work close to cases but not on scene because being around dead bodies in person sounds horrible. (Or there is a chance I'll get over it. Many people do.) #criminology #criminialjustice

Should I become a lawyer and how do I do it?

I am in the eleventh grade and I have always wanted to become a lawyer. My aunt is one and we always talk about how interesting it is. I have done some research and I think I want to work as a legal counsel for corporate or as a public defender, leaning more towards legal counsel due to the structure of the corporate world. While I do know being a lawyer is the path I am leaning towards, these specific paths of law are not set in stone since I am not yet entirely sure what I want to do. English is my best subject in school and I get overall good grades. Should this be the path I take? I also don't know what colleges/law schools are the best, what to major in, etc? Is law school worth it? Is the LSAT and bar test hard? Any other suggestions on any other kinds of lawyers that sound interesting? Is being a lawyer fun? Are there good benefits? What does a day look like as a lawyer? Any and all of this would be super helpful, and any extra details are welcome as well. Thank you for your time. #school #lawyer #law #lawyers #corporate-lawyer #law-school #corporatelawyer #inhousecounsel #generalcounsel #associate-lawyer #law #politicalscience #criminology

What are ways to narrow down my career interest in Criminal Justice?

I'm a first generation college student and I am currently on my 3rd/last year at a community college. I am trying to create a plan to transfer to a university but I am not only having trouble choosing a specific major but my overall path. I have always had an interest in Criminal Justice but, frankly, I am just not exposed enough to the field. I wish to obtain a Masters education at the very least but I am researching endlessly with little results. If you are possibly able to discuss about other questions please search me on my LinkedIn account. Any guidance is appreciated, thank you. #criminology #criminaljustice #firstgenerationcollegestudent #seekingmentorship #careerinterest #highereducation

Are criminal justice classes similar to criminology?

I am interested in becoming a criminal intelligence analyst and currently, I am a sociology major. My university does not offer criminology as a major and so there are not many classes related to the subject. However, there are criminal justice classes. Professional jobs that don't involve spending all day on the computer

I'm a political science college grad with experience working in the courts system, legal support, and criminal justice policy. I've realized that I don't like spending all day on the computer, and most of the professional jobs that I've had involve a lot of solo computer work. This last semester, I was a teaching assistant, and it was really fun to spend my time teaching and attending class, and communicating with the students and the professor. I don' t mind computer work, especially if it involves communicating with others in some way, but my ideal would be about 3 to 4 hours per day rather than 8 or 9. I'm looking at what my next steps will be after the pandemic and wondering where I can go from here that will involve moving around and communicating with people. Hoping to get ideas for an area of work, or a role within an area of work that makes sense with my experience! Given my previous experience as a TA, I've considered some type of student support role in higher education. I've also considered criminal or regulatory investigations (or audit investigations) but I'm not sure if my experience would translate into that directly. I am also looking at admin roles in areas related to my experience that seem to involve a lot of coordinating logistics & communicating with others. Thanks in advance for your time! #criminology #law #criminal-justice #teaching #higher-education #investigations

How can I become a lawyer? I already took the LSAT and got a 164 and submitted an application essay, but I applied for the CAS which did not send my transcripts to the appropriate schools I applied to, so I did not get in. Is there an easier way to become a lawyer? I have ADHD, depression, and anxiety and I really need some help because I can't jump through all of the hoops required to become a lawyer. My dream is to work for civil rights and social justice.

What jobs are available within a prison/jail with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice.

I’m currently working towards getting my Bachelors in Criminal Justice. I would like to work in a prison as a correctional case manager. I’m not going to lie, I’m not really sure how much a correctional case manager gets paid. I’ve seen anywhere from 30k-60k here in LA, California. I’m wondering if it’s worth it. Should I look for an other position with the prison? #criminal-justice #criminal-justice #criminology #correctional case manager

What degree would be better forensic science, criminal justice or criminology?

I'm a student at community college looking to transfer soon and I'm undecided on which degree would be best if I wanna become a crime scene investigator and possibly FBI Agent in the future. Forensic studies at USF sound like a good match but St.Leo University has a Criminal Justice degree with a forensics concentration and I'm confused as to which degree would help me more overall. If anyone has experience with what degrees work better thank you. #law #forensic #college #forensics #criminology #criminal-justice #FBI #FBI-agent
