What Would a Typical Day of a Machine Learning Engineer Consist of, and How Does it Compare to Other Engineering Fields?
After looking at most of my choices, I believe that my interests lie in software engineering, hardware engineering, mechanical engineering, and machine learning engineer. I've always been told that a role as a machine learning is quite complex, and can often be handled by very few individuals with critical thinking skills. Also, I've heard that a role as a machine learning engineer requires more than just a computer science degree. Is this true? If so, what typical tasks would comprise of a typical machine learning engineer? Also, how would it compare to the professions listed above? Any input from qualified professionals in the field would be appreciated. #computer-science #data-science # #engineering #technology #career-advice
How should I independently prepare for a future degree and career in computer science while still in high school?
I'm currently a junior in high school, doing IB. Most of my IB subjects are irrelevant to CS (English, French, chemistry, biology, philosophy, psychology) except for math. In math, I am learning algebra, functions, geometry and trigonometry, probability and statistics, and calculus. So aside from this, what can I do independently that will better prepare me and help me succeed in computer science? I've already seen long lists of online resources, but they're confusing and overwhelming. I just want a simple and straightforward roadmap consisting of (online) resources that will help me develop skills applicable to any discipline in CS (data science, cybersecurity, web development, software engineering/development, etc.) In addition, I would like efficient resources or courses that wouldn't take up much time, because I have a demanding workload. Thanks in advance! #computer-science #technology #science #university #high-school #software #data-science #math #cybersecurity #online-resources #roadmap #university-prep

Trying to change careers?
I have a degree in Computer Systems engineering and job history in the digital services field mostly in UI UX design (minor focused front-end dev) and minor experience as an embedded programming using Python and C/C++. I am really trying to shift gears in to data engineer and analytics, but even entry-level positions require some experience. I have taken course to build technical skills however most employers don’t understand why I qualify given my professional experience. Any advice how to make a career shift or how to bridge the gaps?

Data Science/Scientist Questions
I recently learned about the field of Data Science. I'm seriously considering a career in Data Science because it combines my interests in math, computer science, research, and writing. I'm really interested in learning more about it as a career. My questions are: 1.) What do data scientists do? 2.) According to an article I found on Indeed, some things that data scientists may do include "working in social media companies and using the user data to understand habits and suggest content that the users will enjoy. They may also work in politics and make predictions about the election results. " What else may they work on besides this? I like the idea of studying retail data, or data on where college graduates relocate to. 3.) Does it involve a lot of math, or is it mostly computer-based? 4.) What are the pros and cons of this career? 5.) Is it in demand? When I was researching data science on LinkedIn, I found a disheartening number of posts by laid-off data scientists. 6.)How much education to you need to become a data scientist? 7.) Are data scientist jobs mostly in person or remote. If they're in person, where are they mostly located (e.g. East/West Coast, big cities, specific cities, etc.) 8.) Is it a popular career choice? Is it a popular career choice among women? 9.) What classes/self-study courses should I take to see if I would enjoy being a data scientist? 10.) Can you get an MBA with a focus in data science? If you can think of anything else that would be useful for me to know, I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance!! :)

How Should I Start Learning about Machine Learning at the Age of 15?
I don't want to be jumping all over the place, but this is just to keep in the side of my mind as I refine my web development skills and learn the general tools that a full-stack engineer utilizes. At 15, how do you recommend I begin to take interest in machine learning? I've always found it fascinating, but have no idea how to start, as I've heard that it requires a pretty good understanding of linear algebra and calculus. If required, I'll definitely spend time reaching ahead to learn about this, but I'm also wary of my other goals pertaining to electronics that I want to pursue. Also, I will likely incorporate all these approaches within the span of two years, as I have a lot on my plate. Any input from professionals would be appreciated. #technology #engineering #data-science # #computer-science #computer

How do I break into a new industry?
I've been working for 20 years since I graduated from college -- 17 years at a nonprofit research institute and then the last 3 years at a large U.S. bank. My focus has been on identifying, selling/pitching, evaluating and experimenting with innovative ideas in a brought range of areas -- new research approaches, novel data science (eg, AI/ML) use cases, ways to use emerging tech to make core lines of business faster/cheaper/better, and new products & services. I left both of the last organizations when my leadership changed and there was no longer an interest in investing in more exploratory innovation (horizon 2 or 3). I see lots of companies that are investing in this type of innovation, but not many in the industries in which I have experience. How can I get the attention of recruiters and higher managers and convince them that my skillset is very transferable?
How would data science be used in accounting?
Would it analyze ways to boost revenue and control expenses?
How can I learn computer science, data science, machine learning, etc.?
Any recommendations for free programs I can apply to? How can get an entry-level CS job to improve my skills? What companies are likely to accept high school interns?
