Will choosing a more populated and highly recognized school over one that is less unheard of matter for careers?

I was always so skeptic about where I wanted to go to school throughout high school. I didn't know whether to apply to a D1 school or a D3 school. Therefore, I made the decision to apply to both. Fortunately, I did get accepted to every school I applied to but just couldn't make up my mind as to where I wanted to go. I figured that if I went to the more talked about schools over the others that I was for sure making the smarter choice and benefit of the doubt. I got accepted to both Florida State University and Kean University. It took a great deal of thought but in the end I chose Kean over FSU only because it was way closer to home. What makes me so curious is that will the degree matter just as much if I made that choice to go to FSU instead? #college #career #university #degrees

Does every Psychology major necessarily need graduate school?

I am currently debating on attending graduate school and continuing my education for a Master's Degree. My main concern is that if I decide to not further do my education will it make things harder for myself in the long run to land a job. However, I understand that by getting your Masters you will definitely be making more money right from the start but, when obtaining a degree in Psych, is it better, more known for the individual, and even more respected to get your Masters? #psychology #graduate-school #degrees #masters-degree #graduate-programs

If you get two degrees and you find a job that you like but the degree that would be more useful to the job is the minor, will the company be less likely to hire you because it's a minor and not major?

I am asking this because I am thinking whether or not it is a smart choice to do a double major and what would happen if the minor would end up being more use to me. #college #college-major #college-minor #degrees

How likely are big tech companies such as Apple, Google, Facebook, etc. going to pay for my Master's education in Computer Science?

I am a high school senior about to graduate and attend San Jose State University majoring in Computer Science. I intend to attain a B.S. degree in my major with an emphasis in software engineering. I did some research concerning the degrees associated with my major and found that the average salary increase isn't worth the costs of obtaining a Master's degree. I've heard from some of my teachers that some companies are willing to pay for my education but I'm not entirely sure how many companies there are that actually do this. Even further, I'm not even certain if the companies I want to work for are willing to do that. I want to know so I can make the decision to stay in school for my Master's or just remain with a Bachelor's degree in the future. Thank you very much for your time. #computer-science #software-engineering #degrees #working-in-big-companies #financial-planning

What is the difference between a B.A.S. and a B.S.?

I am interested in going for my bachelors in some sort of science since I am interested in becoming a marine biologist. I was advised by many people that it is better to have a degree in the sciences rather than specifically marine biology/oceanography. I have looked around at the difference between a Bachelors in Applied Science and a Bachelors in Science and still have some difficulty determining which one might look better for a potential marine biologist. The colleges I'm interested in offer a B.A.S. in some locations but not in others. #science #college-major #marine-biology #degrees #bachelor

What are the similarites and differences between civil engineering, architecture, and architectural engineering?

Hello, I'm currently a civil engineering student at the University of Dayton. I'm in a sort of dilemma where, like any other college student, am unsure of where I want to go degree-wise. I really thought that civil engineering would be a great stepping stone for me into architecture until I decided what I want to do. Now I want to look over the pros and cons of each and decide what I really want to pursue. A second more detailed question I have about each of the degree I listed in my original question is what particular type of work would be done in each and what special skills are required of each one? #civil-engineering #architecture #architect #degrees #architectural-engineering

What types of classes can I take while in high school to prepare for a computer science degree in college?

This question was asked by a sophomore in high school who is interested in establishing a basic knowledge base in computer science before they enter college. The youth of today will be entering a workforce more technologically charged than the one we are currently facing. I would like to share this question with the CareerVillage community to offer a learning opportunity to all of our young men and women who have an interest in working in the tech industry. #computer-science #college-major #computer #high-school #degrees #computer-engineer

Should I pursue a Master of Engineering degree after undergrad?

I am currently a senior in high school. I know that I will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering in college. I also know that mechanical engineering is a degree that is extremely broad and can be used to enter many careers. However, I am unsure whether I should earn a master's degree straight out of undergrad. I have heard that a master's only gives you higher qualifications for future jobs. I have also heard that an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering is enough in order to get a good paying job. Clarification on this potential decision would be highly appreciated. #engineering #engineer #mechanical-engineer #degrees
