Is electrical engineering as hands on as I think it is?

Hello, I am an aspiring electrical engineer and I want to do EE because I enjoy it. My main concern is that electrical engineering jobs aren't hands on. I have heard from multiple people that the majority of the jobs are just sitting at a desk all day. Also, is EE in Boston viable? To me, it seems like yes #electrical-engineering #engineering #engineer #job #boston

Is getting an Electrician’s License after earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) wise?

I am a College Senior majoring in Electrical Engineering. My long-term goals include: 1) using what I learned in school to create, build, and repair things; and 2) owning an Engineering firm. I, therefore, think learning a technical skill similar to my present major might be very beneficial. With an Electrician's License, I can freelance while working a job with my degree to save money for my own company. Freelancing will simultaneously build up potential clientele. Is this a smart move? Or is an Electrician’s License so different than a BSEE, that it would be a waste of time to pursue it? #engineering #electrician #electrical-engineering #electrical #electrical-engineer

Should working for a huge company like google feel intimitating for me?

I enjoy working with wires and making a machine or a computer, but I never really thought of living a career out of it until my cousin suggested I should. I'm good at other things but making stuff is what I like doing because I get to call something that works and functions my own. #electrical-engineering #electrical-and-electronic-manufacturing #google

Is it better to just do Automotive engineering or do a combination of mechanical and electrical engineering?

Specifically I would do Mechanics and Power and I want to do research and development for an automotive company specifically doing propulsion systems. Things like drivetrain and the engine. Since the future is electric power, I think it is a good idea to have the knowledge of electrical engineering as well as mechanical engineering, #automotive-engineering #mechanical-engineering #electrical-engineering #electric-vehicles #electrical-and-electronic-manufacturing #mechanics #masters-degree #research-and-development

Would it be advisable to receive an electrical engineering major and get certified in teaching?

I would like to major in electrical engineering and get certified to teach advanced high school math or physics. Is that too many credits to complete in 4 years? I was also considering double majoring in electrical engineering and mathematics. In addition, I wanted to get certified in teaching math or physics for high schoolers. Would that be do-able in 5 years? I have around 40 college credit hours from high school. #engineering #teaching #mathematics #double-major #electrical-engineering

What is the best route to becoming a music and electrician engineer?

I'm asking because, my college career choice was to major in music engineering and minor in electrical engineering. Honestly, I chose the careers I enjoy doing and want to make my life style. One day I want to own my own Record/Recording label (music engineering). If I have a wiring problem or my Record label don't start, I can be certified to fix my own technical difficulties or purse a career as a electrician. #music-production #music-recording #electrical-engineering

How should I approach companies for internships?

I am in a High School program that requires an internship by the end of senior year. I was wondering how I would approach companies to possibly land an internship in companies( I am leaning towards engineering companies). I would graciously appreciate it if anyone could explain what should I include in my email, how can I formulate my email to assure that someone will give me a response, and any other details that I should know when asking companies about internships. #engineering #internships #mechanical-engineering #electrical-engineering

Why does a transformer work only with AC power supply? What would happen if it was connected to a DC power supply?

From my understanding of how a transformer works. A AC power provides an alternating magnetic field which drives the current to the other coil. So what is the reason why transformers only work with AC and not DC power? Is it because the DC power will provide constant current which can be too much for the wires to handle? #engineering #mechanical-engineering #physics #electrical-engineering

Is an internship viable even after graduation?

I'm an Engineer student and about to graduate. I am actively seeking jobs and kind of struggling to find a suitable job due to lack of work experience. However, internships seem to be attractive for me since most of them require little to no work experience.
