Will going abroad for your first job increase your chances for jobs back home?

I'm planning on going abroad for my first job. It will be a teaching job and I don't have any serious career ideas. I don't know what job I would be working if I stay home instead so I'm assuming staying or leaving won't makeba huge difference in what I care about, unless I find something before my first job. I can think of ways that going abroad can be seen as good and bad. I do not know which side respectable employers willl side with. #working-abroad #employment- #overseas

Is there a better career outlook to double major in accounting and a computer related major (CIS) or accounting and a language major (Chinese)?

I soon have to declare my major in order to sort out the necessary courses with my college adviser for the upcoming years. However, I am stumped. I have always intended to major in accounting and a computer related major like Computer Informational System, but recently I started hearing about my school's accounting and Chinese double major program. The way that the Chinese professor emphasized on the importance of language got me intrigued. I enjoy both my computer and language classes, thus, I am having a hard time deciding on my major. I want to know which double major is more desirable and helpful in our today's economy? A double major in CIS and accounting or Chinese and accounting? #career #college-major #career-counseling #career-choice #career-path #career-development #employment #employer-relations

What occupations and fields are stagnating or decreasing in growth?

As time progresses, some occupations become obsolete because of society and technology. The factory worker was beat out by the robot, the mail delivery man was beat out by the drone. As a student and future contributor to the workforce, it is imperative to know where the money is at and where it is heading so that I can make a good living and have a successful career. #employment #job-market

How do people ensure themselves a financially stable future? How can I as well?

For example, I was always confused how people automatically move out of their parents' house and start supporting themselves right after receiving a job. When someone starts working, I always feel that it may be too early to start finding a home since a person wouldn't have too much money to begin with. Can anyone explain why this happens? I will try to clarify if anyone is confused. #finance #jobs #employment #support #houses

Optometry vs. Ophthalmology- Should I be worried that the MDs will take over the ODs?

I am interested in pursuing Optometry, which means I would need to take the OAT, and go into Optometry school. However, if you go through with Medical school, and the MCAT, one could become an Ophthalmologist. I don't want to begin following the Optometry route if the MDs could take over the jobs, leaving me with nothing. I understand that an MD can perform surgery as well as the general check-ups, which is why I am hesitant seeing as they can do more than the Optometrist (except for those few cases if you get your TPG, TPL, or TLG attached to your license). Should I worried? Should I just go through with medical school and become an Ophthalmologist instead? #medicine #healthcare #employment #optometry #ophthalmologist #optometrist

How to be an outstanding candidate when applying for jobs?

I have just graduated from college and looking for a job. I understand that the job market is tougher this time to make matters worse some say there might be a recession coming. I try to put the best in my CV and resume and tailor them to a particular company I send it to. Other than work experience, academic projects, co-curricular activities, voluntary activities, testimonials and recommendations from my professors is there anything else that would look good in my resume. Unfortunately my GPA isn't high and that puts me in disadvantage. The candidates that get selected for the job I want have accomplished something great in the respective areas mentioned above. However, I was not an active member in clubs and societies and my final year project was not among those selected for poster session despite the hardwork. Poster session is where you display and present your project to the public in campus. The only thing I am good at is my hobbies. I understand that seeking employment would take time for me. I would appreciate if you could provide any advice on this matter. #college #resume #employment #resume-writing #skills #job-market
