Under what circumstances should a civil engineer use bridge bearings? Why are they so indispensable?
This might be one of the most intriguing questions that I have ever had about my career. Every day I pass by enormous bridges and I can't think but visualize how bridges can withstand great amounts of forces. Essentially, a bridge bearing is a component of a bridge that provides a resting surface between the bridge deck and the bridge piers. I would like to know a bit more as to why they are critical in complex bridge. #college #engineering #engineer #civil-engineering #bridge

Hobbies and Career? Or Hobbies vs Career?

However, none of these passions are part of my career goals. At college I will study physics and engineering. Can anyone share experiences of finding a balance between hobbies and their career path during college? I'd love to learn how others embed non-academic hobbies into their academics goals. #engineer #music #scientist

How does a student interested in engineering find a shadow position?
I'm a dual credit high-school/college student looking to major in electrical engineering. I am not 90% that this would be the best card for me to play, so I'm attempting to figure out if I am suited to go into this field. All of my academic scores, personality tests, and interests seem to say that it would be a good fit, but I am not certain. My personality is very tactile, so it is much more helpful for me to experience or observe what a job takes, rather than read a list of responsibilities. Unfortunately, I don't know any practicing electrical engineers! How can I find a professional to shadow? #engineer #career-choice #electrical-engineer #work-shadowing
