Should I focus on DSP or acoustic engineering? Also, any steps to take towards these careers?

I like both math and audio, which initially led to me discovering DSP. However, I discovered acoustic engineering, which I find to be equally interesting. I have experience in theatre sound and music production. I’m also infrequently learning to code.

How much experience do I need to get hired as an airframe welder? What certifications and degrees should I strive for?

I am currently enrolled in a trade school of sorts. I am learning to weld and receiving certifications in metalworking and I need to prepare for my dream career by planning it out before it's too late and I don't know where to go.

Are there any careers that would allow me to pursue nuclear engineering AND musical theater ?

My current goal is to double major in those two subjects at University of Michigan (hopefully with a scholarship, as it's out of state and EXPENSIVE), but from what I've found, it's practically impossible to find a way to do them both "in the real world" I don't want to look back and regret not doing theater, but I know it's not the most practical career. I'm not the best at nuclear science or engineering, but I have time to improve my skills. Is there anything out there for me (that pays well, LOL)?

What would be a good plan for someone wanting to become an acoustic/noise control engineer?

I was planning on getting two degrees: one in math and the second in physics. Then I want to get a masters and doctorate in acoustics from Penn State. I then started researching the Institue of Noise Control Engineering. Would it be a good idea to apply for membership to INCE after graduate school? Should I do it earlier? Should I wait? Should I do it at all? Then I want to complete all three INCE courses in noise control engineering. Is board certification worth it?

What to choose to have a better career in the states ?

Got into Canadian top unis and Australian top unis Greetings. I got an offer letter from McGill University in Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering (co-op), and again, I got offer letters from UNSW, Monash Australia, and the University of Sydney, too, for a bachelor of engineering! No wonder Australian top universities that are t50 have way lower tuition fees than McGill University alone. As I am planning to do electrical engineering, which university will be really good for better career opportunities in the future? I will be moving to the to the USA after completing my undergrad in Australia or Canada for my Masters and career too! If I go to the top Australian university, which one is really good for electrical engineering?  And most importantly McGill doesn't offer co-ops either! I was planning to choose those just because it has a good reputation in the states.

What are the most suitable majors for transitioning from engineering?

Suppose a person has completed the physics I-III sequence, the calculus I-III sequence, differential equations, probability and statistics, linear algebra, along with several engineering-specific credits. Which majors should they consider transitioning to where they have already met many of the required courses? Unfortunately, transitioning to one of the business majors is less feasible due to the amount of required courses & lack of overlap, and their IQ probably isn't high enough for a mathematics or physics major.

As an engineer, is there ever an invention or creation that is too big to dream of, and if not then how do you get started on the intimidating journey towards the end goal?

Hello, I am a senior in high school aspiring to become an aerospace engineer in the future, in hopes of changing the world for the better through an engineering background. A dream like this requires some sort of plan and instead of waiting to be in college with all the fancy laboratories and equipment I decided I can start my own research and development towards my goal of improving the aerospace industry right now. I ask myself big questions, sometimes questions that seem almost impossible to answer, but one question has had me hooked for awhile, how can we make jet propulsion not run on chemicals and fuels but instead with electricity? My best brainstorm is that the combustion chamber is switched with an ionization process that can accelerate the incoming air and also shoot electromagnetic waves at the incoming air in the combustion chamber to heat it up the air. Thus this process heats and accelerates the air, just like your average combustion chamber. As crazy as it sounds this idea has been an obsession of mine and I am convinced I can create it, now whether or not it will actually work is still unknown to me, but research is all about trial and error. However my friends, my parents, and sometimes myself think I am in over my head for wanting to build something that seems like something from Star Trek but my question is, is it alright to dream big like this? Is there a limit to what an 18 year old can actually build? And if there is no limit then where do I start? Not technically where do I start, but how does the engineering process work? What is usually the first step that an engineer takes when they have a eureka moment and decide to build something? The likelihood of this plasma jet engine working seems very small, but any chance at success seems worth it and I'd love it if I can get any help from real engineers on how to start or even if to start. Thank you! #engineering #aerospace-engineering

What major should I go for ?

I have always been interested in mathematics and physics. After graduating from 12th grade, I have discovered that I'm really good at mathematics, though I used to get over 95% in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. I know getting a good score isn't everything in a career; there are so many skills that are required to have a top-notch career. Now I am planning to do my major in electrical engineering or software engineering. As I like grinding mathematics more, will it be a wise decision to major in electrical engineering? I really want to do a startup. Will it be a wise decision to major in electrical engineering, having the passion to do the startup and maintaining academics perfectly?  One thing I would like to say, I'm going to move to Montreal and planning to do my MBA afterwards.

How can I ensure a successful career path in academia or industry after completing a PhD specializing in quantum physics, considering my diverse interests in languages and creative pursuits as well?

As someone who completed a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's in materials chemistry from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and worked as a product engineer for 7 years, I have a solid technical background. However, I have a persistent keen interest in physics, particularly quantum physics and its applications. I'm considering pursuing a PhD in either physics or physical chemistry to explore my passion for research science. At the same time, I am trained in materials chemistry, I speak 4 languages, and I actively pursue songwriting and writing on the side. How can I navigate this transition and what are some tips for maintaining a balance between my scientific pursuits and my other interests?

How can I find and communicate with an engineer for an interview for my high school?

I am looking for someone to interview for my high school engineering academy. I’m interested in mechanical, electrical, and engineering physics but I am happy to interview any engineer. The interview would be online and we could discuss the time that works best for you. If anyone could give me advice on a number to call or if someone volunteers it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading my post and have a great day.
