What can I do to improve my chances at entering a decent college?
I'm in the 11th Grade and I am unsure about which college I can get into. The college I'm looking for is one that is known to most people and has many available majors, but does not require the highest of grades(B-C area). Another thing I wonder is if the college can provide the necessary classes for someone interested in engineering or a career related to aviation. How did failing a class in college affect your career decision?
I have recently just finished my first year of college. I am currently an Industrial Engineering major and i have failed calculus 2. What does "long-term" mean in volunteering?
I am homeschooled, so I don't have many extracurricular activities. Because of this, and also because I enjoy it, I volunteer a lot. In August, I started volunteering once a week at a hospital in Outpatient Registration. I enjoy it, and I am planning on continuing through the summer. I am not sure if I will be able to continue volunteering there in the fall, though. I have heard that colleges like students who have long term volunteering positions, and I was wondering if one year is considered long term? If it is considered long term, then I probably will not continue to volunteer at the hospital in the fall, because I will be busy with other things. If it is not considered long term, then I will make an effort to continue volunteering there, even if it is difficult. I am turning 30 this year and life has not been exactly how I want it to be. I have a bachelors degree of applied science in Electronics Engineering from DeVry University but I graduated in 2009 I haven't had any type of tech Jobs. except one. and i feel that that job wasn't very technical sense quality control was more about visual inspection and everyday user computer functions. I have some skills with photoshop, drawing, and I am trying to relearn computer programming on my own. Why does a transformer work only with AC power supply? What would happen if it was connected to a DC power supply?
From my understanding of how a transformer works. A AC power provides an alternating magnetic field which drives the current to the other coil. So what is the reason why transformers only work with AC and not DC power? I'm performing poorly in my classes lately...I'm a smart person, I've just been unmotivated and bored. The Film classes are super fun, but I keep looking back and wished I had done engineering, physics, or something like that.
