What degree is recommended for designing hardware?

I read an old reddit AMA on it a couple months ago about a hardware engineer at Intel and somebody brought up what they would need to receive his position. However, he didn't give a straight answer so I would like to know what I have to do to be hired into that job. #computer-science #computer-software #engineering #computer #computer-hardware

How much of physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics are used in environmental engineering (each)? Is the field generally enjoyable for someone with a love of physics and math? Do environmental engineers spend much of their time at their work outside?

As a devoted environmentalist and vegetarian, I believe improving the environment is absolutely my purpose in math. As I have a passion for physics and mathematics (particularly calculus), engineering seems to be my best fit for my science expertise. However, I am undecided on whether simply teaching physics and participating in environmentally beneficial hobbies is a best bet rather than engineering, due to my wish of a career that is heavy in physics. #engineering #science #mechanical-engineering #mathematics #math #physics #environmental #undecided

Looking for Advice to Get a Job in Industrial Engineering

Hello everyone! So I have recently discovered the Industrial Engineering and I am very interested in becoming one. I absolutely love improving processes and making things run more efficiently, I'm good at math, good with people. I would love to find a job as an industrial Engineer but unfortunately the school I'm currently at (University of North Texas) does not offer that major. They do have B.S. programs: Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical and Energy Engineering, B.S.E.T programs: Construction Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, B.A. program: Information Technology I would like to avoid transferring if possible for multiple reasons but I know I want to be an industrial Engineer. Any advice on what major I would be most likely to get a job with? Any advice at all would be appreciated because I'm very unsure of what I should do. Thank you in advance! #engineering #general #industrial

Are there a lot of prospective job opportunities for bioengineers?

I'm a senior in high school and interested in bioengineering, but I've heard many negative opinions about going into bioengineering because of the lack of job opportunities. I heard many students end up going to grad school to study a different branch of engineering. So, is it worth it to go to college to study bioengineering? Or should I look for a different branch of engineering to study? #engineering #bioengineering

In favor of International students. There are many international students studying in US but due to expensive tuition fee, living and other expenses they have no other choice than to work off-campus.So how can they maintain their GPA or do well in study?

I am also an international student who wants to do something revolutionary in engineering field. But due to expensive tuition fee, other international students have to sacrifice their study and focus on work due to which they don't do good in their study.Study becomes second priority. #engineering #political-science

What is the first step I can take if I have decided that I will take my chances and apply to Stanford the following year?

I am a rising junior in my high school and I know that it is a really long shot that I could ever end up going there. However, I like to have a little faith that I can apply and hope that the college admissions office over there accepts me. I do not even know what to do now though. I take the PSAT's in less than three weeks so I am guessing that should help me out a lot depending on my score obviously. I was just wondering what to do now with this mindset that I am taking my chances and apply over there. I really like the robotics club they have over there and I would love to be in that club. I am pretty sure I would major in mechanical engineering over there if that helps. I have other options too, so even if I do not get in, I know that I will have other chances to pursue mechanical engineering. I just want to know other people's thoughts on the matter of applying to Stanford University. #college #stanford #college-admissions #college-selection #university-applications #engineering

What is it like to be on a robotics team?

At this moment I am interested in robotics, so I was just wondering what is going to happen as someone joins a robotics team at their high school or college. In my high school, we do not have a robotics team, but we do have the technology student association. I wanted to know what there is to look forward to once I get to college. #robotics #teamwork #robotics-engineer #career #engineering

Army guy looking for educational help, career wise.

Hey guys, I've lurked on this site for all of 3 hours before realizing actual professionals respond on here, which is what I'm looking for. Anyways, I'm David. I've been in the Army since I was 17(got parents consent/signature). I'm 21 now and currently serving in the National Guard. I have recently come to a road block in my educational career. I've been at a community college for 2 whole years now and I have been on the path to becoming a Registered nurse, since in the Army I'm a combat medic and have some medical experience and certifications under my belt. Now recently, I'm starting to feel as if the medical field isn't my true passion, and tbh I still don't think I've found a major I'm truly passionate about, but I have always had an interest in economics and businesses and how they're able to make money and stay in business etc etc. Should I stay on the path to becoming an RN, or switch to majoring in Finance or Economics. Or would perhaps another business related degree be more marketable and valuable or should I pursue even something like engineering. Any advice/help/opinions/tough love is much appreciated! #business #engineering #nursing #finance #economics

Industrial Design and Environmental Science, can I blend them in my studies and make it a career?

I have just recently started to think about college because I'm in my junior year of high school right now, and i have really taken an interest in environmental science. And what I really hope is that once I get out of college I can make a career out of what I have learned and I am not super science savvy so I wouldn't go into a strictly science field. But what i would love is to incorporate something like industrial design into environmental science, because thinking for future career niches, I'm positive we will be needing things to fix our current ecological crisis! I have a lot of leeway as to what career path I want to follow but this for right now seems like the most viable option. Both of these majors could definitely swapped out for something better, but I think anything around this theme of environmental aid and design is something I would love! So would it be possible to even make a career out of these two blended together? And what colleges would offer both of these unique majors? Anything helps! Thank you so much! #college #engineering #science #college-major #design #environmental #industrial
