Should high school students be focused on doing extracurricular activities based off of what they would want to major in college?
I have a friend who really wants to become a doctor, and almost all her extracurricular activities are tied around medicine. She did a medical program in Harvard, volunteers at a hospital, etc. Would she have a better chance of getting in somewhere because she knows what she wants and is doing activities based around it? I'm halfway through the tenth grade and still don't know what I want to pursue. How do I effectively balance my classes, extra-curricular activities, and new life as a freshman in college?
I plan on going into college optimistically, as I wish to make the most of my new path in life. However, starting an entirely new life in unfamiliar territory away from home, I wonder if there is a certain mindset or routine I could use to adapt to my new situation. I plan on taking rigorous classes pertaining to mathematics and computer science, while at the same time getting involved with new sports and volunteering opportunities regarding tutoring around campus. How many clubs, internships, and work study programs is too much?
I am attending the University of Washington this upcoming fall and will be majoring in biochemistry. My goal is to get accepted into med school in the future which obviously requires many extracurricular activities and volunteer work. Currently, I am signed up for work study, I plan to get involved with at least 2 science-based clubs (maybe even become coordinator or president of those clubs), and do volunteer work on the side at the local hospital. Is jumping in head-first the right thing to do? Should I ease back on everything? If so, will my med school application be less desirable if so have less going on during my undergraduate? Thank you to whoever can help me! #internships #medical-school #undergraduate #college-applications #extracurriculars

Graduate classes + a (mandatory) internship + a job = Too much? My graduate program requires me to work an internship. My financial situation requires me to work another job. How important are extracurriculars for admissions in CS in Pakistan, and for Master's abroad, and how do I find extracurriculars with limited opportunities and freedom ?
I feel really overwhelmed by how to find notable extracurricular activities, especially since I am a girl living in Pakistan and have limited freedom as well as limited money. I don't know where to even start to find internships, extracurriculars etc and my college does not offer anything. I want to know how to build a solid application for undergrad in Pakistan, if extracurriculars are important for universities such as NUST and NED, and how to find opportunities in order to apply for Master's abroad.
I need help with my extracuricular activities!
Okay so highschool has started and I'm not apart of anything. I'm not in band, orchestra, sports team, theater or anything else. Club rush is coming up and I'm planning on joining a few clubs and being on the academic decathlon team. But, I feel like if I only join clubs in highschool the next four years then I'll suffer on my college applications. I don't enjoy sports at all and I don't play an instrument. I don't know what to do because I feel so lost and confused. Another concern that I have is that I feel like I'm behind compared to others. Like if I only join clubs and another person I'm competing against is on a sports team, in band, and apart clubs then they have a better chance in getting into a good school. #college #sports #school #college-admissions #extracurriculars #high-school-classes
